The Journal of Women's History was founded to provide a means of disseminating that scholarship and to serve as the journal of record for the new area of women's history. As part of its mission, the journal began a compilation of periodical literature dealing with women's history. This first volume is drawn from more than 750 journals and includes material published from 1980 through 1990. There are forty subject categories, divided into numerous subcategories. The guide lists more than 5,500 articles; all are extensively cross-listed. In her foreword, Christie Farnham outlines the evolution of a journal devoted to women's history as a part of the transformation of the history profession by the feminist movement. Joan Hoff's introduction is a substantive discussion of the development of women's history as a discipline. 606 $aFeminismus$2swd 606 $aBibliographie$2swd 606 $aZeitschriftenaufsatz$2swd 606 $aGeschichte$2swd 606 $aFrau$2swd 606 $aTijdschriften$2gtt 606 $aVrouwengeschiedenis (wetenschap)$2gtt 606 $aFrau$2gnd 606 $aFeminismus$2gnd 606 $aBibliografie$2gnd 606 $aZeitschriftenaufsatz$2gnd 606 $aGeschichte$2gnd 606 $aFemmes$xHistoire$xPeriodiques$vIndex 606 $aFemmes$xHistoire$vPeriodiques$vIndex 606 $aWomen$xHistory$xPeriodicals$vIndexes 608 $aIndex. 608 $aIndexes. 608 $aIndexes. 608 $aHistory. 608 $aindexes (reference sources) 615 07$aFeminismus. 615 07$aBibliographie. 615 07$aZeitschriftenaufsatz. 615 07$aGeschichte. 615 07$aFrau. 615 17$aTijdschriften. 615 17$aVrouwengeschiedenis (wetenschap) 615 7$aFrau. 615 7$aFeminismus. 615 7$aBibliografie. 615 7$aZeitschriftenaufsatz. 615 7$aGeschichte. 615 6$aFemmes$xHistoire$xPeriodiques 615 6$aFemmes$xHistoire 615 0$aWomen$xHistory$xPeriodicals 700 $aFischer$b Gayle V$01176540 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910735084903321 996 $aJournal of Women's History Guide to Periodical Literature$93503154 997 $aUNINA
