It follows him on his return to France in January 1779, on leave from the American army, and ends in the spring of 1780, when he was sent back to America to announce the coming of the French expeditionary force and to help formulate American plans for cooperation with the French forces.Complementing Lafayette 's personal memoirs, which open the two parts of the book, are exchanges of letters with such prominent figures as George Washington1 Henry Laurens, Benjamin Franklin, the Comte d'Estaing, John Paul Jones, and the Comte de Vergennes. The documents and letters written in English are published as they appear in the manuscripts; those written in French appear both in the original and in translation.Much of the basic material for this series, which will comprise six volumes, is drawn from Lafayette's own collection of manuscripts. A brilliant portrait of Lafayette in his own words, the books reveal much more complex elements in his character and outlook than have been apparent before. 606 $aHistory 615 0$aHistory. 676 $a944 700 $aLafayette$b Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert Du Motier$cmarquis de,$f1757-1834$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0303328 701 $aIdzerda$b Stanley J$01497824 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910794289703321 996 $aLafayette in the age of the American Revolution$93723088 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03612nam 22005775 450 001 9910734861503321 005 20230707112934.0 010 $a981-9916-27-5 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-99-1627-6 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC30621904 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL30621904 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-99-1627-6 035 $a(PPN)272250457 035 $a(CKB)27531921500041 035 $a(EXLCZ)9927531921500041 100 $a20230707d2023 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCognitive Aging and Brain Health /$fedited by Zhanjun Zhang 205 $a1st ed. 2023. 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer Nature Singapore :$cImprint: Springer,$d2023. 215 $a1 online resource (188 pages) 225 1 $aAdvances in Experimental Medicine and Biology,$x2214-8019 ;$v1419 311 08$aPrint version: Zhang, Zhanjun Cognitive Aging and Brain Health Singapore : Springer Singapore Pte.
