The performance of materials can be defined according to their physical characteristics: stiffness, strength, hardness, ductility, and toughness. The elasticity of materials can be predicted by computational simulations and/or measured in laboratory experiments. This book is divided into two sections: "Simulations and Modeling" and "Characterization". In particular, seven relevant topics and their applications are considered: theory, simulation, characterization, composites, single crystals, nanoindentation, and dielectric elastomers. Examples are provided of the elasticity of materials including composites, single crystals, auxetics, and dielectric elastomers. The book provides important practical skills and will be useful for postgraduate and higher-level science and engineering students. 606 $aMaterials science 606 $aStrength of materials 615 0$aMaterials science. 615 0$aStrength of materials. 676 $a620.112 702 $aGu?lsen$b Akin Evingu?r 702 $aPekcan$b O?nder 801 0$bNjHacI 801 1$bNjHacl 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910727281703321 996 $aElasticity of Materials$92958559 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03878nam 22005535 450 001 9910734839803321 005 20251009081954.0 010 $a9783031276057 010 $a3031276051 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-031-27605-7 035 $a(CKB)27240633200041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC30609753 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL30609753 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-031-27605-7 035 $a(EXLCZ)9927240633200041 100 $a20230626d2023 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aImagining the Self in South Asian and African Literatures /$fby Inder Sidhu 205 $a1st ed. 2023. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer Nature Switzerland :$cImprint: Palgrave Macmillan,$d2023. 215 $a1 online resource (ix, 167 pages) 311 0 $a9783031276040 327 $a1 -- Introduction -- 2 Negotiating Difference: Positioning the Self in Sake Dean Mahomet?s The Travels of Dean Mahomet, a Native of Patna in Bengal, Through Several Parts of India, While in the Service of the Honourable the East India Company (1794) and Olaudah Equiano?s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, The African (1789) -- 3 Importing Knowledge and Theory: The Authorial Self and the Expert Position in Henry Callaway?s Nursery Tales, Traditions, and Histories of the Zulu (1868) and R. The project examines texts by eight authors across the colonial, postwar and post-9/11 eras ? Olaudah Equiano, Sake Dean Mahomet, Henry Callaway, R.C. Temple, Amos Tutuola, G.V. Desani, Tsitsi Dangarembga and Aravind Adiga ? in order to map different strategies of selfhood across four fields of literature: autobiographical life writing, folk anthology, postwar fabulism, and contemporary realism. Drawing on historical analysis, psychological inquiry, comparative linguistics, postcolonial criticism and social theory, this book responds to a renewed emphasis on the narrative strategies and creative choices involved in a literary construction of the self. Threaded through this investigation is an analysis of the effects of globalization, or the intensification of intercultural and dialogic complexity over time.
