The book explores this interaction through detailed analysis of appeals to "mystery" in the Pauline letter collection and then the discourse of previously hidden but newly revealed mysteries in various second-century thinkers. T.J. Lang argues that the historical coordination of the concealed/revealed binary ("the mystery previously hidden but presently revealed") enabled these early Christian authors to ground Christian claims - particularly key ecclesial, hermeneutical, and christological claims - in Israel's history and in the eternal design of God while at the same time accounting for their revelatory newness. This particular Christian conception of time gives birth to a new and totalizing historical consciousness, and one that has significant implications for the construction of Christian identity, particularly vis-à-vis Judaism. 410 0$aBeihefte zur Zeitschrift fu?r die neutestamentliche Wissenschaft und die Kunde der a?lteren Kirche ;$vVolume 219. 606 $aMystery$xHistory of doctrines$yEarly church, ca. 30-600 606 $aRevelation$xHistory of doctrines$yEarly church, ca. 30-600 606 $aChurch history$yPrimitive and early church, ca. 30-600 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMystery$xHistory of doctrines 615 0$aRevelation$xHistory of doctrines 615 0$aChurch history 676 $a230/.13 700 $aLang$b T. Can you tell which of two test scores is the larger? Can you programme a video or DVD recording using a 24-hour clock? If so, then this book will show you how everyday numbers like these can also be used to make your research more powerful, and enable you to spot the abuses of number that are as common in research as they are in everyday life. This book illustrates how numbers can be used routinely and successfully for research purposes - without you ever having to consider confidence intervals, probability densities, Gaussian distributi 410 0$aContinuum research methods series. 606 $aResearch$xMethodology 606 $aResearch$xStatistical methods 615 0$aResearch$xMethodology. 615 0$aResearch$xStatistical methods. 676 $a001 686 $a70.03$2bcl 700 $aGorard$b Stephen$01622904 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910817148903321 996 $aUsing everyday numbers effectively in research$94024647 997 $aUNINA
