330 $aEvery grammar of French is faced with the problem of how best to explain the correct usage of the grammatical part-system accord du participe passé in all its complexities and inconsistencies. The present volume pursues two objectives, the one being to give the reader a systematic overview of the rules involved and the specific problems they present, the other to essay a selective analysis of French grammar description from the Renaissance to the present, with reference to the handling of this particular accord phenomenon. It transpires that this instance of accord is a genuine test case, a concrete feature of grammatical analysis revealing the strengths and weaknesses of the various conceptions underlying the grammars in question. 606 $aFrench language$xParticiple 615 0$aFrench language$xParticiple. 676 $a445 700 $aGutwin$b Stefan$01545906 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910796348203321 996 $aDer "accord du participe passe" als Testfall der franzo?sischen Grammatikschreibung$93801138 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03725nam 22005895 450 001 9910255207903321 005 20200630084448.0 010 $a3-319-69578-9 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-69578-5 035 $a(CKB)4340000000223495 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-69578-5 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5162743 035 $a(EXLCZ)994340000000223495 100 $a20171125d2017 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aResurrecting Extinct Species $eEthics and Authenticity /$fby Douglas Ian Campbell, Patrick Michael Whittle 205 $a1st ed. 2017. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Palgrave Macmillan,$d2017. 215 $a1 online resource (IX, 128 p. 1 illus.) 225 1 $aPalgrave Pivot 311 $a3-319-69577-0 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aChapter 1. To make an extinct species ?de-extinct? is to resurrect it by creating new organisms of the same, or similar, appearance and genetics. The book describes current attempts to resurrect three species, the aurochs, woolly mammoth and passenger pigeon. It then investigates two major philosophical questions such projects throw up. These are the Authenticity Question??will the products of de-extinction be authentic members of the original species???and the Ethical Question??is de-extinction something that should be done?' The book surveys and critically evaluates a raft of arguments for and against the authenticity or de-extinct organisms, and for and against the ethical legitimacy of de-extinction. It concludes, first, that authentic de-extinctions are actually possible, and second, that de-extinction can potentially be ethically legitimate, especially when deployed as part of a ?freeze now and resurrect later? conservation strategy. . 410 0$aPalgrave pivot. 606 $aPhilosophy of nature 606 $aBioethics 606 $aBiology?Philosophy 606 $aAnimal genetics 606 $aPhilosophy of Nature$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/E34040 606 $aBioethics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/E14010 606 $aPhilosophy of Biology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/E34010 606 $aAnimal Genetics and Genomics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L32030 615 0$aPhilosophy of nature. 615 0$aBioethics. 615 0$aBiology?Philosophy. 615 0$aAnimal genetics. 615 14$aPhilosophy of Nature. 615 24$aBioethics. 615 24$aPhilosophy of Biology. 615 24$aAnimal Genetics and Genomics. 676 $a113 700 $aCampbell$b Douglas Ian$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0990516 702 $aWhittle$b Patrick Michael$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910255207903321 996 $aResurrecting Extinct Species$92265999 997 $aUNINA
