The book seeks to show that underlying Ezekiel are three principles of retribution: covenant, the disposal of impurity, and poetic justice. That is to say, the consequence of an act is either governed by the terms of a covenant, or seen as the disposal of impurity produced by the act, or made to look like the act by incorporating some features of the act. The present study shows that retribution can be juridical in nature as in the case of the covenant, but it can also be non-juridical as in the cases of disposal of impurity and poetic justice. This study also provides an examination of these three important ideas seldom noted in detail in current literature on Ezekiel. 410 0$aSupplements to Vetus Testamentum ;$vv. 87. 606 $aRetribution$xBiblical teaching 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aRetribution$xBiblical teaching. 676 $a224/.406 700 $aWong$b Ka Leung$0893630 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910449993703321 996 $aThe idea of retribution in the book of Ezekiel$91996175 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02070nam 2200433Ia 450 001 996385745603316 005 20200824132122.0 035 $a(CKB)4940000000078450 035 $a(EEBO)2240952844 035 $a(OCoLC)ocm12680199e 035 $a(OCoLC)12680199 035 $a(EXLCZ)994940000000078450 100 $a19851016d1642 uy | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 14$aThe high and mightie commendation of the vertue of a pot of good ale$b[electronic resource] $efull of wit without offence, of mirth without obscenities of pleasure without scurrilitie, and of good content without distaste : whereunto is added the valiant battell fought between the Norfolk Cock and the Wisbich Cock /$fwritten by Thomas Randall 210 $aLondon $cPrinted for F.
