Conclusion. 330 $aThis book examines ideas of spiritual nourishment as maintained chiefly by Patristic theologians -those who lived in Byzantium. It shows how a particular type of Byzantine frescoes and icons illustrated the views of Patristic thinkers on the connections between the heavenly and the earthly worlds. The author explores the occurrence, and geographical distribution, of this new type of iconography that manifested itself in representations concerned with the human body, and argues that these were a reaction to docetist ideas. The volume also investigates the diffusion of saints' cults and demonstrates that this took place on a North-South axis as their veneration began in Byzantium and gradually reached the northern part of Europe, and eventually the entirety of Christendom. . 410 0$aNew Approaches to Byzantine History and Culture,$x2730-9371 606 $aEurope$xHistory$x476-1492 606 $aReligion$xHistory 606 $aCivilization$xHistory 606 $aEurope$xHistory$xTo 476 606 $aLiterature, Medieval 606 $aHistory of Medieval Europe 606 $aHistory of Religion 606 $aCultural History 606 $aHistory of Ancient Europe 606 $aMedieval Literature 615 0$aEurope$xHistory$x476-1492. 615 0$aReligion$xHistory. 615 0$aCivilization$xHistory. 615 0$aEurope$xHistory$xTo 476. 615 0$aLiterature, Medieval. 615 14$aHistory of Medieval Europe. 615 24$aHistory of Religion. 615 24$aCultural History. 615 24$aHistory of Ancient Europe. 615 24$aMedieval Literature. 676 $a940.902 700 $aEne Dra?ghici-Vasilescu$b Elena$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01775610 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299796503321 996 $aHeavenly Sustenance in Patristic Texts and Byzantine Iconography$94290252 997 $aUNINA
