Description of Semi-aggregate Data 330 3 $aSince the global financial crisis, corporate investment has been weak in India. Sluggish corporate investment would not only moderate growth from the demand side but also constrain growth from the supply side over time. Against this background, this paper analyzes the reasons for the slowdown and discusses how India can boost corporate investment, using both macro and firm-level micro data. Analysis of macro data indicates that macroeconomic factors can largely explain corporate investment but that they do not appear to account fully for recent weak performance, suggesting a key role of the business environment in reviving corporate investment. Analysis of micro panel data suggests that improving the business environment by reducing costs of doing business, improving financial access, and developing infrastructure, could stimulate corporate investment. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2012/070 606 $aCorporations$zIndia$xFinance 606 $aInvestments$zIndia 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aBusiness enterprises$2imf 606 $aBusiness environment$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aCorporate Finance and Governance: General$2imf 606 $aCorporate Finance$2imf 606 $aCorporate finance$2imf 606 $aCorporate investment$2imf 606 $aEconomic sectors$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aFinancial Institutions and Services: General$2imf 606 $aFinancial services$2imf 606 $aGross fixed investment$2imf 606 $aInfrastructure$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aInvestments: General$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aNational accounts$2imf 606 $aReal interest rates$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 607 $aIndia$2imf 615 0$aCorporations$xFinance. 615 0$aInvestments 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aBusiness enterprises 615 7$aBusiness environment 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aCorporate Finance and Governance: General 615 7$aCorporate Finance 615 7$aCorporate finance 615 7$aCorporate investment 615 7$aEconomic sectors 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aFinancial Institutions and Services: General 615 7$aFinancial services 615 7$aGross fixed investment 615 7$aInfrastructure 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aInvestments: General 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aNational accounts 615 7$aReal interest rates 615 7$aSaving and investment 676 $a332.152 700 $aTokuoka$b Kiichi$01815653 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910956775603321 996 $aDoes the Business Environment Affect Corporate Investment in India$94371899 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03682nam 2200685Ia 450 001 9911018881803321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a9786612137044 010 $a9781282137042 010 $a1282137042 010 $a9780470409756 010 $a0470409754 010 $a9780470409749 010 $a0470409746 024 7 $a10.1002/9780470409756 035 $a(CKB)1000000000773883 035 $a(EBL)448927 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000135217 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11150172 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000135217 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10057605 035 $a(PQKB)10475534 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC448927 035 $a(CaBNVSL)mat05361021 035 $a(IDAMS)0b0000648117882d 035 $a(IEEE)5361021 035 $a(OCoLC)412767803 035 $a(PPN)266981577 035 $a(Perlego)2757081 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000773883 100 $a20080917d2009 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aDawn of the electric age $eelectrical technologies in the shaping of the modern world, 1914-1945 /$fFrederik Nebeker 210 $aPiscataway, NJ $cIEEE$dc2009 215 $a1 online resource (550 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9780470260654 311 08$a0470260653 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aThe Great War and wireless communications -- Electrical technologies in total war -- Electrification in the interwar period -- The Jazz Age and radio broadcasting -- Postwar recovery and the Great Depression : electrical technologies in industry and commerce -- Electrical technologies and the consumer culture -- Communication technologies in democratic and totalitarian countries -- Electrical engineering in an age of science -- World War II and electrical technology -- Radar, the weapon that decided the war -- Conclusion : dawn of the electronic age. 330 $a"Much of the infrastructure of today's industrialized world arose in the period from the outbreak of World War I to the conclusion of World War II. It was during these years that the capabilities of traditional electrical engineering--generators, power transmission, motors, electric lighting and heating, home appliances, and so on--became ubiquitous. Even more importantly, it was during this time that a new type of electrical engineering--electronics--emerged. Because of its applications in communications (both wire-based and wireless), entertainment (notably radio, the phonograph, and sound movies), industry, science and medicine, and the military, the electronics industry became a major part of the economy. Dawn of the Electronic Age explores how this engineering knowledge and its main applications developed in various scientific, economic, and social contexts, and explains how each was profoundly affected by electrical technologies. It takes an international perspective and a narrative approach, unfolding the story chronologically."--P. 4 of cover. 606 $aElectrification$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aElectrical engineering$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aElectric apparatus and appliances$xHistory$y20th century 615 0$aElectrification$xHistory 615 0$aElectrical engineering$xHistory 615 0$aElectric apparatus and appliances$xHistory 676 $a621.309 700 $aNebeker$b Frederik$0845631 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911018881803321 996 $aDawn of the electric age$94420745 997 $aUNINA
