It takes the premise that children?s learning and orientations to educational success are shaped by everyday cultural practices at home and at school, by policy contexts that both produce and respond to educational and cultural norms, and by individual and familial desires and aspirations. Drawing on research conducted with primary school-aged children in Year 4, the book considers how day-to-day routines such as going to school, engaging in extra-curricular activities outside of school, and spending time at home with family intersect with the broader milieus of education policy ideals in a changing and interconnected world. Through a combination of visual methodologies, surveys, ethnographic observations in schools, classrooms and cityscapes, re-enactments of everyday activities with children at home, and sociological education policy analysis, this book shows both the richness of children?s everyday lives and learning in global cities, as well as exploring questions that pose challenges to educational and social norms. 410 0$aGlobal Childhoods in the Asia-Pacific,$x2730-7824 ;$v1 606 $aEarly childhood education 606 $aEducation 606 $aChildren 606 $aEducational sociology 606 $aEducation and state 606 $aSociology 606 $aSocial groups 606 $aEarly Childhood Education 606 $aChildhood Education 606 $aSociology of Education 606 $aEducational Policy and Politics 606 $aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging 606 $aEducació infantil$2thub 606 $aEscolars$2thub 606 $aCondicions socials$2thub 607 $aMelbourne (Austràlia)$2thub 607 $aHong Kong (Xina)$2thub 607 $aSingapur$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aEarly childhood education. 615 0$aEducation. 615 0$aChildren. 615 0$aEducational sociology. 615 0$aEducation and state. 615 0$aSociology. 615 0$aSocial groups. 615 14$aEarly Childhood Education. 615 24$aChildhood Education. 615 24$aSociology of Education. 615 24$aEducational Policy and Politics. 615 24$aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging. 615 7$aEducació infantil 615 7$aEscolars 615 7$aCondicions socials 676 $a372.21 702 $aLee$b I-Fang$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSaltmarsh$b Sue$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aYelland$b Nicola$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910698649003321 996 $aChildhood, Learning & Everyday Life in Three Asia-Pacific Cities$93200519 997 $aUNINA
