According to data from the 2000 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey Insurance Component (MEPS-IC), approximately 97 million of the 104 million full-time employees from the private sector and state and local governments worked in establishments where the employer offered health insurance. Furthermore, 73 million of these employees were enrolled in a health insurance plan offered through their place of work.
