It may refer to a philosophical thesis about the nature of life and biology, to the internal workings of a machine-like structure, or to the causal explanation of a particular phenomenon. In this Special Issue, we try to discuss these possible biological mechanisms that underlie the beneficial effects of physical fitness and sports performance, as well their importance and role/influences on physical health.Despite the significant body of knowledge regarding the physiological and physical effects of different training methods (based on dimensions of load), some of the biological causes for those changes are still unknown. Additionally, few studies have focused on the natural biological variability in humans and how specific properties of humans may justify different effects for the same training intervention. Thus, more original research is needed to provide plausible biological mechanisms that may explain the physiological and physical effects of exercise and training in humans.In this Special Issue, we gather the contributions that describe and list the links between physical fitness, sports performance, and human biology. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 606 $aBiology, life sciences$2bicssc 610 $abody composition 610 $aBIVA 610 $afat mass 610 $aweight loss 610 $aHRQoL 610 $aknowledge 610 $aphysical activity 610 $arheumatic diseases 610 $awomen 610 $a25(OH)D 610 $aphysiology of performances 610 $apuberty 610 $apre-planned agility 610 $anon-planned agility 610 $aParalympic Powerlifting 610 $aibuprofen 610 $amuscle strength 610 $aoxidative stress 610 $arecovery of function 610 $asatellite cells 610 $amuscle regeneration 610 $amyogenic regulatory factors 610 $ainflammation 610 $aexercise 610 $aage 610 $aathletic performance 610 $arowing 610 $asport 610 $ayoung athlete 610 $amathematical model 610 $aexecutive functions 610 $acognitive performance 610 $ayouth 610 $aphysical education 610 $aBIA 610 $acoronavirus disease 610 $adetraining 610 $afootball 610 $amuscle mass 610 $ateam sports 610 $asoccer 610 $ahigh-intensity 610 $asmall-sided games 610 $apsychophysiological responses 610 $acombined training 610 $acycling 610 $aendurance 610 $aoxygen uptake 610 $aFTP 610 $athreshold 610 $apower 610 $astrength 610 $amuscular activity 610 $aelectromyography 610 $acore endurance test 610 $amuscular performance 610 $aerythropoietin 610 $aerythroferrone 610 $amental health 610 $asports 610 $aspinal cord injury 610 $aresistance training 610 $amuscle damage 610 $aacid-base balance 610 $akickboxing 610 $ametabolic acidosis 610 $atype 2 diabetes 610 $aphysical exercise 610 $ahigh-intensity interval training 610 $acardiac autonomic modulation 610 $aheart rate recovery 610 $aheart rate variability 610 $aaerobic training 610 $ahealth 610 $atriathlon 610 $aperformance 610 $aergogenic aids 610 $amuscle fatigue 610 $arecovery 610 $ahormones 610 $aantioxidant 610 $abody fat 610 $aIgA 610 $aimmunomodulation 610 $anutritional supplement 610 $aobesity 610 $avibrating exercise equipment 610 $achronic low back pain 610 $asurface electromyography 610 $abiological mechanisms 610 $aphysical health 610 $asports and exercise physiology 610 $aglucagon-like peptide-1 610 $aglucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide 610 $adry land training 610 $aone repetition maximum 610 $aback squat 610 $awater parachute 610 $aaquatic training 610 $aswimming performance 610 $ahypoxic dose 610 $amuscular endurance 610 $asex difference 610 $aflanker 610 $aadolescent 610 $aTabata training 610 $ablood pressure 610 $acardiorespiratory fitness 610 $aphysical education lessons 610 $alog-linear analysis 610 $amultivariate correspondence analysis 610 $aload 610 $aheart rate 610 $ahigh-speed running 610 $amonotony 610 $amuscle soreness 610 $asprint 610 $asleep 610 $astrain 610 $astress 610 $atumour 610 $adepression 610 $acancer survivorship 610 $acardiovascular fitness 610 $aaerobic capacity 610 $askin surface temperature 610 $ahigh-intensity exercise 610 $athermal imaging 610 $aacute exercise 610 $ahormonal response 610 $asaliva 610 $astrength training 610 $alean body mass 610 $akinanthropometry 615 7$aResearch & information: general 615 7$aBiology, life sciences 700 $aGeorgian$b Badicu$4edt$01284017 702 $aClemente$b Filipe Manuel$4edt 702 $aMurawska-Cia?owicz$b Eugenia$4edt 702 $aGeorgian$b Badicu$4oth 702 $aClemente$b Filipe Manuel$4oth 702 $aMurawska-Cia?owicz$b Eugenia$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910637781003321 996 $aBiological Mechanisms Underlying Physical Fitness and Sports Performance$93019216 997 $aUNINA
