The study, set in the framework of Cognitive Linguistics, adopts a usage-based approach to language analysis. Consequently, it draws on data derived from a wide variety of sources, namely modern novels, translated texts and elicitation tasks. Besides describing the distribution of path and manner information in and outside the verb in the two languages, the book addresses questions concerning the place of Polish and Russian on the continuum of the salience of the manner of motion as well as cognitive mechanisms reflected in the lexicalization patterns of motion events. 410 0$aBrill's studies in language, cognition and culture ;$vVolume 15. 606 $aPolish language$xGrammar, Comparative$xRussian 606 $aRussian language$xGrammar, Comparative$xPolish 606 $aMotion in language 606 $aCognitive grammar 606 $aComparative linguistics 615 0$aPolish language$xGrammar, Comparative$xRussian. 615 0$aRussian language$xGrammar, Comparative$xPolish. 615 0$aMotion in language. 615 0$aCognitive grammar. 615 0$aComparative linguistics. 676 $a491.8/55 700 $a?ozi?ska$b Joanna$01688884 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910958905203321 996 $aPath and manner saliency in Polish in contrast with Russian$94063473 997 $aUNINA
