It was found that, while color use has some advantages for information processing, such as reducing workload and saving time, it also has disadvantages and may introduce negative effects in task performance. The benefits of color use were identified, and rationales were provided for how to use color properly to optimize those benefits. The negative effects of color use with respect to associated cognitive factors were analyzed, and two checklists that evaluate advantages and negative effects of color use in ATC displays were derived which can be used for design prototypes and acquisition evaluation. 517 $aColor and visual factors in ATC displays 606 $aAirports$xTraffic control$xDisplay systems 606 $aColor display systems$xPsychological aspects 615 0$aAirports$xTraffic control$xDisplay systems. 615 0$aColor display systems$xPsychological aspects. 700 $aXing$b Jing$01382530 712 02$aUnited States.$bOffice of Aerospace Medicine. 712 02$aUnited States.$bFederal Aviation Administration. 712 02$aCivil Aerospace Medical Institute. 801 0$bGPO 801 1$bGPO 801 2$bGPO 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910695368303321 996 $aColor and visual factors in ATC displays$93426124 997 $aUNINA
