It is an update of A Review of Biological Control in Western and Southern Europe edited by Greathead (1976) and covers the period from 1897, when the beetle Rodolia cardinalis was introduced into Portugal against the invasive cottony cushion scale, Icerya purchasi, until the end of 2009. This review is based largely on the BIOCAT database (Greathead and Greathead 1992), which contains records of the introduction of insect natural enemies, namely parasitoids and predators, for the control of insect pests worldwide. This review may not provide the complete list of BC agents introduced into Europe. Nevertheless, the report includes a vast majority of the introductions, and hence provides a representative picture of the history of releases of exotic BC agents into the environment in Europe. 606 $aPest control$2bicssc 606 $aInsects (entomology)$2bicssc 606 $aAgricultural science$2bicssc 610 $abiological control agents 610 $ainvasives 610 $anonindigenous species 610 $aRodolia 610 $aColeoptera 610 $aarthropods 610 $aPortugal 610 $areviews 610 $aexotic species 610 $acottony-cushion scale 610 $aIcerya 610 $aanimals 610 $apest control 610 $ainsect pests 610 $aCommunity of Portuguese Language Countries 610 $ainvasive organisms 610 $aeukaryotes 610 $adatabases 610 $anonindigenous organisms 610 $aEurope 610 $aRodolia cardinalis 610 $aplant pests 610 $abiocontrol agents 610 $abiological control 610 $aCoccoidea 610 $ainsects 610 $anon-native species 610 $ainvasive alien species 610 $aCoccinellidae 610 $ainsect control 610 $aSouthern Europe 610 $aparasitoids 610 $aMediterranean Region 610 $apest insects 610 $anon-indigenous species 610 $anon-native organisms 610 $apests 610 $aIcerya purchasi 610 $adata banks 610 $aOECD Countries 610 $abiocontrol 610 $apest arthropods 610 $aHemiptera 610 $aEuropean Union Countries 610 $apredators 610 $aintroduced organisms 610 $aMonophlebidae 610 $ainvasive species 610 $anatural enemies 610 $aDeveloped Countries 610 $abiological control organisms 610 $aexotic organisms 610 $aarthropod pests 610 $aparasites 610 $aHexapoda 610 $ainvertebrates 610 $aalien invasive species 610 $aintroduced species 610 $aSternorrhyncha 610 $anon-indigenous organisms 615 7$aPest control 615 7$aInsects (entomology) 615 7$aAgricultural science 700 $aSchaffner$b Urs$4auth$01351681 702 $aGerber$b Esther$4auth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910688448303321 996 $aReview of Invertebrate Biological Control Agents Introduced into Europe$93127348 997 $aUNINA
