This book is more specific to dating and intimate partner sexual violence in young adult populations. The target audience is researchers, prevention agencies and policymakers within academia and military settings. Alcohol use has long been recognized as a major contributor to sexual assault, with an estimated 50% of sexual assaults in the U.S. involving drinking by the victim, perpetrator, or both. Beyond the usual harmful effects, alcohol-involved assaults are associated with unique sequelae for female victims, including increased self-blame, stigma, and greater alcohol use to cope. Moreover, heavier drinking on the part of the perpetrator is associated with more serious incidents of assault (e.g., involving physical force) that result in more severe outcomes for victims. The purpose of this Symposium on Motivation is to bring together a group of experts in the areas of alcohol and sexual aggression to articulate the causes, consequences, and mechanisms of alcohol-involved sexual assault. Speakers will talk about classic and contemporary research and theories on these issues using cutting-edge approaches (e.g., virtual reality, neuroscience, laboratory-based alcohol administration) from a variety of perspectives (perpetrators, victims, bystanders). 410 0$aNebraska Symposium on Motivation,$x2947-9479 ;$v68 606 $aPsychology 606 $aCognitive psychology 606 $aSocial psychology 606 $aForensic psychology 606 $aClinical psychology 606 $aPersonality 606 $aDifference (Psychology) 606 $aBehavioral Sciences and Psychology 606 $aCognitive Psychology 606 $aSocial Psychology 606 $aForensic Psychology 606 $aClinical Psychology 606 $aPersonality and Differential Psychology 606 $aVíctimes d'abús sexual$2thub 606 $aAssetjament sexual$2thub 606 $aDelictes sexuals$2thub 606 $aConsum d'alcohol$2thub 606 $aParella$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aPsychology. 615 0$aCognitive psychology. 615 0$aSocial psychology. 615 0$aForensic psychology. 615 0$aClinical psychology. 615 0$aPersonality. 615 0$aDifference (Psychology). 615 14$aBehavioral Sciences and Psychology. 615 24$aCognitive Psychology. 615 24$aSocial Psychology. 615 24$aForensic Psychology. 615 24$aClinical Psychology. 615 24$aPersonality and Differential Psychology. 615 7$aVíctimes d'abús sexual 615 7$aAssetjament sexual 615 7$aDelictes sexuals 615 7$aConsum d'alcohol 615 7$aParella 676 $a636.005 702 $aDiLillo$b David 702 $aGervais$b Sarah J. 702 $aMcChargue$b Dennis E. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a9910683353303321 996 $aAlcohol and sexual violence$93418759 997 $aUNINA
