(@Arche?ologie pre?ventive) (ABES)004508270 2-7351-0624-1 330 $aThis work introduces the initial results of research at sites occupied by Native Americans in the Sinnamary basin (1660-220 BP), carried ont at the time of the construction of the Petit Saut dam by Electricité de France in French Guyana. A methodological approach pertaining to the tropical sylvan and riparian milieu is followed by a study of the open-air sites, and a commentary focusing on the phenomenon of terra preta and palaeolithic fires. For the first time a typological framework and a vocabulary are proposed for reference to lithic scenes and polishing-tool sites. This work also includes a study of ceramics using two complementary approaches: determination of place of manufacture based on the Chemical make-up of the pestes employed, and codification of the forms and motifs of the 22,000 objects registered. Following up on the publication devoted to the colonial period in this region (dAf 60), this volume makes a significant contribution to the renewal of historiographical work on the Guyana plateau. 410 0$aDocuments d?archéologie française. 606 $aExcavations (Archaeology)$zFrench Guiana 606 $aGuayana Indians 606 $aExcavations (Archaeology)$xMethodology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00917581 606 $aHumanities$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00963588 606 $aPaleolithic period$xStudy and teaching$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01051502 606 $aCeramics$xStudy and teaching$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00851121 606 $aArchaeology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00812938 607 $aFrench Guiana$2fast 607 $aFrench Guiana$zPetit Saut Dam$2fast 607 $aSouth America$zGuiana Highlands$2fast 610 1$aNative Americans in the Sinnamary basin 610 1$aterra preta (soil) 610 1$ablack earth (soil) 610 5$aGuyana plateau 615 0$aExcavations (Archaeology) 615 0$aGuayana Indians. 615 7$aExcavations (Archaeology)$xMethodology 615 7$aHumanities 615 7$aPaleolithic period$xStudy and teaching. 615 7$aCeramics$xStudy and teaching 615 7$aArchaeology 676 $a909.0942 700 $aJacob$b Jean?Paul$01318618 701 $aLavallée$b Danièle$0562716 701 $aTabary$b Pierre$01364333 701 $aVacher$b Stéphane$01364334 701 $aJérémie$b Sylvie$01364335 701 $aBriand$b Jérôme$01364336 801 0$bFR-FrMaCLE 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910674059603321 996 $aAmérindiens de Sinnamary (Guyane)$93385534 997 $aUNINA
