Producers of vegetable crops mainly aim at achieving high yields with good external quality. However, there is an increasing demand of consumers for vegetables that provide good sensory properties and are rich in secondary compounds that can be valuable for human health. Sub- or supra-optimal abiotic conditions, like high temperatures, drought, excess light, salinity or nutrient deficiency, may alter the composition of vegetable crops and at the same time, result in yield loss. Thus, producers need to adapt their horticultural practices such as through the choice of variety, irrigation regime, light management, fruit thinning, or fertilizer application to improve the yield and quality of the vegetable product. In the future, altered climate conditions such as elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations, rising temperatures, or altered precipitation patterns may become additional challenges for producers of vegetable crops, especially those that cultivate in the open field. This raises the need for optimized horticultural practices in order to minimize abiotic stresses. As well, specific storage conditions can have large impacts on the quality of vegetables. This Special Issue compiles research that deals with the optimization of vegetable product quality (e.g. sensory aspects, composition) under sub- or supra-optimal abiotic conditions. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 610 $aabiotic stress 610 $aAllium cepa 610 $aammonium 610 $aantioxidants 610 $aascorbic acid 610 $abiostimulants 610 $acarotenoids 610 $acatalase 610 $aclimate change 610 $adismutase 610 $aDPPH 610 $adrought 610 $adrought potassium 610 $aelevated CO? 610 $afatty acids 610 $aflesh firmness 610 $aflowering 610 $afood quality 610 $agibberex 610 $agrafting 610 $aharvest time 610 $aheirloom beans 610 $aLambada and Red Bone 610 $alocal farming 610 $alycopene 610 $aminerals 610 $amodified atmosphere package 610 $aMomordica charantia L 610 $an/a 610 $aNaCl 610 $aNasarpuri 610 $anitrate 610 $anitrogen 610 $anitrogen source 610 $anutraceutical properties 610 $anutrient use efficiency 610 $aOcimum basilicum 610 $aoxalate 610 $aperoxidase 610 $aphotosynthesis 610 $aPhulkara 610 $aphytochemicals 610 $apolyphenols 610 $aproduct quality 610 $aquality 610 $arootstock-scion combination 610 $asalt 610 $asensory and physiological-biochemical characteristics 610 $ashelf life 610 $aSolanum lycopersicum 610 $ataste 610 $atomato 610 $atotal phenol 610 $atotal soluble solids 610 $avacuolar transporter 610 $avegetable 610 $avegetable production 610 $avegetative growth 610 $awater-use efficiency 610 $ayield 610 $azinc 615 7$aResearch & information: general 700 $aSchmidt$b Lilian$4edt$01319400 702 $aSchmidt$b Lilian$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557611503321 996 $aManaging the Product Quality of Vegetable Crops under Abiotic Stress$93033879 997 $aUNINA
