The first part is a comparative study regarding the lawfulness of multiple sanctioning systems under the ne bis in idem, studying the evolution and the current state of the case law of the United States Supreme Court, the Canadian Supreme Court, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The second part of the book critically analyses three problems with the case law of the ECtHR and the CJEU. Part three deals with reconceptualizing the prohibition of multiple punishment and the prohibition of multiple prosecutions. Finally, the fourth part addresses other possible protections against multiple sanctioning systems. Two other safeguards that limit multiple sanctioning systems are the prohibition of disproportionate sanctions and the right to be tried within a reasonable time. 410 0$aLegal Studies in International, European and Comparative Criminal Law,$x2524-8057 ;$v8 606 $aPrivate international law 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aInternational law 606 $aComparative law 606 $aInternational criminal law 606 $aHuman rights 606 $aLaw$xEurope 606 $aCriminal law$xInternational unification 606 $aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law 606 $aInternational Criminal Law 606 $aHuman Rights 606 $aEuropean Criminal Law 615 0$aPrivate international law. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aInternational law. 615 0$aComparative law. 615 0$aInternational criminal law. 615 0$aHuman rights. 615 0$aLaw$xEurope. 615 0$aCriminal law$xInternational unification. 615 14$aPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law. 615 24$aInternational Criminal Law. 615 24$aHuman Rights. 615 24$aEuropean Criminal Law. 676 $a345.5404 676 $a345.2404 700 $aEscobar Veas$b Javier Ignacio $01275742 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a9910645890603321 996 $aNe Bis in Idem and Multiple Sanctioning Systems$93006306 997 $aUNINA
