Yet little is known about this rock art and its role in the desert societies. Why did these peoples make carvings in the desert and what was the significance of this cultural practice? What can the rock art tell us about the relationship between the nomads and their desert landscape? This book investigates these questions through a comprehensive study of over 4500 petroglyphs from the Jebel Qurma region of the Black Desert in north-eastern Jordan. It explores the content of the rock art, how it was produced and consumed by its makers and audience, and its relationship with the landscape. This is the first-ever systematic study of the Safaitic petroglyphs from the Black Desert and it is unique for the study of Arabian rock art. It demonstrates the value of a material approach to rock art and the unique insights that rock art can provide into the relationship between nomadic herders and the wild and domestic landscape. 517 $aCarving Interactions 610 $aPetroglyphs 610 $aRock paintings 610 $aExcavations (archaeology) 610 $aJordan 610 $aSocial science 676 $a933/.5 700 $aBrusgaard$b Nathalie Østerled$01737170 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910853987503321 996 $aCarving Interactions: Rock Art in the Nomadic Landscape of the Black Desert, North-Eastern Jordan$94158376 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03362nam 2200625Ia 450 001 9910437891303321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a1-283-86500-9 010 $a1-4614-4690-2 024 7 $a10.1007/978-1-4614-4690-3 035 $a(CKB)2670000000308948 035 $a(EBL)994315 035 $a(OCoLC)819661494 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000810515 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11456331 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000810515 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10828450 035 $a(PQKB)10334996 035 $a(DE-He213)978-1-4614-4690-3 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC994315 035 $a(PPN)168300923 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000308948 100 $a20121031d2012 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aBio/CMOS interfaces and co-design /$fby Sandro Carrara 205 $a1st ed. 2013. 210 $aNew York ;$aLondon $cSpringer$d2012 215 $a1 online resource (265 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a1-4614-4689-9 327 $aIntroduction -- Chemistry of Conductive Solutions -- Biochemistry of Targets and Probes -- Target/Probe interactions -- Surface Immobilization of Probes -- Nano Technology to prevent Electron Transfer -- Bio/CMOS interface for Label-free Capacitance Sensing -- nanotechnology to enhance electron transfer -- Bio/CMOS interface in Constant Bias.-Bio/CMOS interface in Voltage Scan -- Appendix 1 - Basic Chemistry -- Appendix 2 - Basic Configurations of Operational Amplifiers -- Appendix 3 - The Fourier Theorem -- Appendix 4 - The Fourier and Laplace Transforms. 330 $aThe application of CMOS circuits and ASIC VLSI systems to problems in medicine and system biology has led to the emergence of Bio/CMOS Interfaces and Co-Design as an exciting and rapidly growing area of research. The mutual inter-relationships between VLSI-CMOS design and the biophysics of molecules interfacing with silicon and/or onto metals has led to the emergence of the interdisciplinary engineering approach to Bio/CMOS interfaces. This new approach, facilitated by 3D circuit design and nanotechnology, has resulted in new concepts and applications for VLSI systems in the bio-world. This book offers an invaluable reference to the state-of-the-art in Bio/CMOS interfaces. It describes leading-edge research in the field of CMOS design and VLSI development for applications requiring integration of biological molecules onto the chip. It provides multidisciplinary content ranging from biochemistry to CMOS design in order to address Bio/CMOS interface co-design in bio-sensing applications. 606 $aBiochips 606 $aBiomolecules 606 $aBiosensors 606 $aMetal oxide semiconductors, Complementary$xDesign 606 $aIntegrated circuits$xVery large scale integration$xDesign 615 0$aBiochips. 615 0$aBiomolecules. 615 0$aBiosensors. 615 0$aMetal oxide semiconductors, Complementary$xDesign. 615 0$aIntegrated circuits$xVery large scale integration$xDesign. 676 $a621.3815/2 700 $aCarrara$b Sandro$01064366 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910437891303321 996 $aBio$92537712 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05090oam 22009134a 450 001 9910642299203321 005 20250705110026.0 010 $a9780472903146 010 $a0472903144 024 8 $a10.3998/mpub.11738099 035 $a(CKB)5860000000283123 035 $a(OCoLC)1354571145 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)musev2_109848 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC7167759 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL7167759 035 $a(OCoLC)1369671300 035 $a(ScCtBLL)78ad467f-c38e-48a9-a7bf-c44f72b35a1c 035 $a(ScCtBLL)f4018afd-762d-4a6b-890f-6a35f326244e 035 $a(ODN)ODN0009815985 035 $a(EXLCZ)995860000000283123 100 $a20221213h20232023 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|||||||nn|n 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aLiving Labor $eFiction, Film, and Precarious Work /$fJoseph B. But in the contemporary age of capitalist globalization new stories about work and workers are emerging to refashion this image. Living Labor examines these narratives and, in the process, offers an innovative reading of American fiction and film through the lens of precarious work. It argues that since the 1980s, novelists and filmmakers?including Russell Banks, Helena Vi?ramontes, Karen Tei Yamashita, Francisco Goldman, David Riker, Ramin Bahrani, Clint Eastwood, Courtney Hunt, and Ryan Coogler?have chronicled the demise of the industrial proletariat, and the tentative and unfinished emergence of a new, much more diverse and perilously positioned working class. In bringing together stories of work that are also stories of race, ethnicity, gender, and colonialism, Living Labor challenges the often-assumed division between class and identity politics. Through the concept of living labor and its discussion of solidarity, the book reframes traditional notions of class, helping us understand both the challenges working people face and the possibilities for collective consciousness and action in the global present. 410 0$aClass, culture 606 $aMotion pictures, American$y21st century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aMotion pictures, American$y20th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aAmerican literature$y21st century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aAmerican literature$y20th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aLabor in motion pictures$y21st century 606 $aLabor in motion pictures$y20th century 606 $aLabor in literature$y21st century 606 $aLabor in literature$y20th century 606 $aWorking class in motion pictures$y21st century 606 $aWorking class in motion pictures$y20th century 606 $aWorking class in literature$y21st century 606 $aWorking class in literature$y20th century 607 $aUnited States$xSocial conditions$y21st century 607 $aUnited States$xSocial conditions$y20th century 607 $aUnited States$xEconomic conditions$y21st century 607 $aUnited States$xEconomic conditions$y20th century 615 0$aMotion pictures, American$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aMotion pictures, American$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aAmerican literature$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aAmerican literature$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aLabor in motion pictures 615 0$aLabor in motion pictures 615 0$aLabor in literature 615 0$aLabor in literature 615 0$aWorking class in motion pictures 615 0$aWorking class in motion pictures 615 0$aWorking class in literature 615 0$aWorking class in literature 676 $a810.9352624 686 $aLIT000000$aLIT004020$2bisacsh 700 $aEntin$b Joseph B.$01280848 712 02$aMichigan Publishing (University of Michigan), 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910642299203321 996 $aLiving Labor$93017532 997 $aUNINA
