Over the years, naturally occurring CO2 sources have been utilized in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects in the United States. This has presented an opportunity to supplement and gradually replace the high demand for natural CO2 sources with anthropogenic sources. There also exist incentives for operators to become involved in the storage of anthropogenic CO2 within partially depleted reservoirs, in addition to the incremental production oil revenues. These incentives include a wider availability of anthropogenic sources, the reduction of emissions to meet regulatory requirements, tax incentives in some jurisdictions, and favorable public relations. The United States Department of Energy has sponsored several Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships (RCSPs) through its Carbon Storage program which have conducted field demonstrations for both EOR and saline aquifer storage. Various research efforts have been made in the area of reservoir characterization, monitoring, verification and accounting, simulation, and risk assessment to ascertain long-term storage potential within the subject storage complex. This book is a collection of lessons learned through the RCSP program within the Southwest Region of the United States. The scope of the book includes site characterization, storage modeling, monitoring verification reporting (MRV), risk assessment and international case studies. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 606 $aPhysics$2bicssc 610 $ageologic CO2 sequestration 610 $aCO2 and brine leakage 610 $aunderground source of drinking water 610 $arisk assessment 610 $aresponse surface methodology 610 $aearly detection criteria 610 $amulti-objective optimization 610 $aCO2-WAG 610 $amachine learning 610 $anumerical modeling 610 $ahybrid workflows 610 $amorrow 610 $aFarnsworth 610 $aAnadarko 610 $aincised valley 610 $ageological carbon sequestration 610 $areactive surface area 610 $amineral trapping 610 $aenhanced oil recovery with CO2 (CO2-EOR) 610 $ageochemical reactions 610 $aworkflow 610 $aworkshop 610 $aprocess influence diagram 610 $aresponse surface model 610 $apolynomial chaos expansion 610 $aNRAP 610 $arelative permeability 610 $ageologic carbon storage 610 $amulti-phase flow simulation 610 $alife cycle analysis 610 $aCO2-enhanced oil recovery 610 $aanthropogenic CO2 610 $aglobal warming potential 610 $agreenhouse gas (GHG) 610 $acarbon storage 610 $aCO2-EOR 610 $aCO2 sequestration 610 $ageomechanics 610 $areservoir fluid flow modelling 610 $atightness of caprock 610 $aCO2 leakage 610 $athreshold pressure 610 $areactive solute transport 610 $amulti-phase fluid flow 610 $aFarnsworth Unit 610 $aSTOMP 610 $aGEM 610 $aTOUGHREACT 610 $a4D 610 $atime lapse 610 $aCO2 610 $aEOR 610 $aWAG 610 $asequestration 610 $amonitoring 610 $acarbon sequestration 610 $acaprock integrity 610 $anoble gas migration 610 $aseal by-pass 610 $acarbon dioxide storage 610 $astorage efficiency factor 610 $aprobabilistic 610 $aexpectation curve 610 $aMonte Carlo 610 $aFarnsworth Field 610 $apetroleum system modeling 610 $aCO2 migration 615 7$aResearch & information: general 615 7$aPhysics 700 $aAmpomah$b William$4edt$01310600 702 $aMcPherson$b Brian$4edt 702 $aBalch$b Robert$4edt 702 $aGrigg$b Reid$4edt 702 $aCather$b Martha$4edt 702 $aAmpomah$b William$4oth 702 $aMcPherson$b Brian$4oth 702 $aBalch$b Robert$4oth 702 $aGrigg$b Reid$4oth 702 $aCather$b Martha$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910639991803321 996 $aForecasting CO2 Sequestration with Enhanced Oil Recovery$93029883 997 $aUNINA
