The gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19 are increasingly being recognized. SARS-CoV-2 infection has been associated with the occurrence of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. SARS-CoV-2 has also been causing pancreatic and hepatic injury. Emerging data have shown that COVID-19 patients continue to shed the virus into their stools, even when patients test negative for COVID-19 in pulmonary secretions. However, the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of SARS-CoV-2-related gastrointestinal manifestations are poorly understood. The pandemic has also had a significant impact on gastroenterologists, endoscopists, and other ancillary staff. Moreover, in the past, systematic respiratory virus syndrome (SARS) was shown to be transmitted by endoscopes, which is a big concern with COVID-19, as it shares many pathological features with SARS. The deferral of elective endoscopic procedures has negatively affected gastroenterologists. This Special Issue focuses on the current situation of this pandemic. It aims to provide insight into the gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19 and its effects on endoscopic procedures. I believe that this issue will be beneficial not only for gastroenterologists but also other healthcare workers around the world to recognize the often-ignored clinical gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19. 517 $aCOVID-19 and Gastrointestinal Disease 606 $aMedicine$2bicssc 610 $aCOVID-19 610 $aliver 610 $anon-alcoholic steatohepatitis 610 $atransient elastography 610 $amortality 610 $aliver disease 610 $aclinical manifestations 610 $aSARS-CoV-2 610 $agastroenterology 610 $ahepatology 610 $aendoscopy 610 $adelivery of healthcare 610 $aacute mesenteric ischemia 610 $athromboemboembolism 610 $aendothelitis 610 $acytokines 610 $ahypercoagulability 610 $ainflammatory bowel disease 610 $agastrointestinal manifestations 610 $aabdominal pain 610 $adyspnea 610 $aclinical course 610 $aupper gastrointestinal bleeding 610 $apandemic 610 $aoutcomes 610 $aanxiety 610 $adepression 610 $amedication adherence 610 $aseverity of COVID-19 610 $ahospitalized patients 610 $arisk factors 610 $aSARS-CoV-2 infection 610 $agut dysbiosis 610 $amicrobiota 610 $agastrointestinal disorders 610 $aintestinal inflammation 610 $aACE2 dysregulation 610 $agut microbiota 610 $aenteric infection 615 7$aMedicine 700 $aGoyal$b Hemant$4edt$01279880 702 $aGoyal$b Hemant$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910639987503321 996 $aCOVID-19 and Gastrointestinal Disease: Current Insights and Future Management$93016105 997 $aUNINA
