This Special Issue on the theme of the New Indicators for the Assessment and Prevention of Noise Nuisance has attracted the interest of authors from all over the world, with the publication of two reviews and two communications, as well as original research papers. Progress has been made in the investigated topic; however, it is still necessary to increase the awareness of the population, both in geographical terms and for workers in specific sectors, such as the marine industry. It emerged that it is essential to carry out future studies that distinguish better between different sound sources with respect to their sound quality in terms of frequency, time pattern (fluctuation, emergence), and psychoacoustic indices, because a differential human reaction to sound sources is increasingly evident. More longitudinal studies are required. However, cross-sectional studies employing a more detailed soundscape description (including background) by competing sound indices are also useful to further the required knowledge to understand the human response in terms of the broad spectrum of potential adverse effects on health and quality of life. 606 $aTechnology: general issues$2bicssc 606 $aHistory of engineering & technology$2bicssc 610 $asound emergence 610 $alegislation 610 $aannoyance 610 $ameasurement 610 $aprediction 610 $auncertainty 610 $aaudibility 610 $asignal-to-noise ratio 610 $asound pressure level 610 $afield measurements 610 $aspectrum analysis 610 $ainterior noise and vibration of vehicle 610 $aCOVID-19 610 $anoise 610 $asoundscape 610 $ametrics 610 $aindicators 610 $adescriptors 610 $asound 610 $alockdown 610 $aTwitter 610 $ageolocation 610 $anoise classification 610 $aseafarers 610 $aacoustic pollution 610 $anoise onboard ship 610 $ahealth impact 610 $aenvironmental pollution 610 $anoise survey 610 $ahypertension 610 $aenvironmental noise 610 $arailway noise 610 $arecreational noise 610 $aairport noise 610 $aroad traffic noise 610 $ablood pressure 610 $anoise annoyance 610 $adiastolic blood pressure 610 $ahelicopter cabin 610 $anoise levels 610 $anoise reduction 610 $aacoustic evaluation 610 $aIAR Puma 330 610 $aultrasound 610 $aactive noise control 610 $aadjustable PAL 610 $aquiet areas 610 $amacro-temporal pattern 610 $anoise indicator 610 $acognitive performance 610 $aStroop task 610 $alistening experiment 610 $aport noise 610 $anoise sources 610 $anoise mapping 610 $anoise mitigations 610 $anoise modeling 610 $aship noise 610 $asustainable management 610 $anoise exposure prevention 610 $anoise measurements 610 $aresearch projects 610 $anoise indicators 610 $anoise metrics 610 $apsychoacoustic 610 $anuisance 610 $asleep disturbance 610 $apeak noise 610 $aimpulsive events 610 $ahealth related quality of life 610 $ahealth effects 615 7$aTechnology: general issues 615 7$aHistory of engineering & technology 700 $aFredianelli$b Luca$4edt$01293299 702 $aLercher$b Peter$4edt 702 $aLicitra$b Gaetano$4edt 702 $aFredianelli$b Luca$4oth 702 $aLercher$b Peter$4oth 702 $aLicitra$b Gaetano$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910637791903321 996 $aNew Indicators for the Assessment and Prevention of Noise Nuisance$93022536 997 $aUNINA
