It refers to the treatment of citizens by their state in a manner resembling a treatment of soldiers by the army. The militarisation of behaviours is a process of mass social control where the state exercises its powers over the population, blurring the boundaries between a dichotomous divide of civilian and military life. This book focuses on the social process of how Polish post-WWII emergency legislation was normalised and how through it the Polish communist state (from 1943/4 until 1989) introduced and enforced the process of militarisation of behaviours. It discusses the impact of the emergency legislation on the Republic of Ireland as a comparison. It offers a useful lens to understand the social and political processes happening currently in Poland, Ireland, and elsewhere, with the increasing influence ofthe (far) right. This book is situated in the framework of criminology and socio-legal studies. B?a?ej Kaucz is a researcher in criminology and socio-legal studies. He completed his PhD in criminology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at University College Cork, Ireland. 410 0$aCritical Criminological Perspectives,$x2731-0612 606 $aCriminology 606 $aDeviant behavior 606 $aSocial control 606 $aCritical criminology 606 $aCriminal behavior 606 $aPolitics and war 606 $aCrime Control and Security 606 $aDeviance and Social Control 606 $aCritical Criminology 606 $aCriminal Behavior 606 $aMilitary and Defence Studies 615 0$aCriminology. 615 0$aDeviant behavior. 615 0$aSocial control. 615 0$aCritical criminology. 615 0$aCriminal behavior. 615 0$aPolitics and war. 615 14$aCrime Control and Security. 615 24$aDeviance and Social Control. 615 24$aCritical Criminology. 615 24$aCriminal Behavior. 615 24$aMilitary and Defence Studies. 676 $a327.12 700 $aKaucz$b B?az?ej$01267008 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a9910627281603321 996 $aThe Militarisation of Behaviours$92978868 997 $aUNINA
