Beyond Education? . 330 $aThis book analyzes children's agency as interactional achievement in formal and informal contexts of education and illuminates how agency can be encouraged and supported in these educational contexts. Taking a sociological approach, the author deals with children as social agents rather than learners and considers structures of interaction which encourage and support agency, rather than teaching. The book draws from field research conducted over more than twenty years in a variety of Italian and international contexts. This book is unique in providing a theoretical reflection on the social structures that can support children?s agency, as well as a large amount of examples which show how these structures and agency work. Claudio Baraldi is Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes in the Department of Studies on Language and Culture at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. His research concerns communication systems, especially intercultural and interlinguistic communication and adult-children interactions in educational contexts. He has co-authored, edited and co-edited eight books for international publishers, and published more than 60 chapters and articles in international volumes and journals. 410 0$aStudies in Childhood and Youth,$x2731-6475 606 $aEducational sociology 606 $aEducation 606 $aChildren 606 $aSocial service 606 $aSociology 606 $aSocial groups 606 $aEducation$xResearch 606 $aSociology of Education 606 $aChildhood Education 606 $aChildren and Youth Work 606 $aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging 606 $aResearch Methods in Education 606 $aDrets dels infants$2thub 606 $aPedagogia crítica$2thub 606 $aSociologia de l'educació$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aEducational sociology. 615 0$aEducation. 615 0$aChildren. 615 0$aSocial service. 615 0$aSociology. 615 0$aSocial groups. 615 0$aEducation$xResearch. 615 14$aSociology of Education. 615 24$aChildhood Education. 615 24$aChildren and Youth Work. 615 24$aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging. 615 24$aResearch Methods in Education. 615 7$aDrets dels infants 615 7$aPedagogia crítica 615 7$aSociologia de l'educació 676 $a809.933581 676 $a370.115 700 $aBaraldi$b Claudio$0460699 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910624382303321 996 $aFacilitating Children's Agency in the Interaction$92963215 997 $aUNINA
