Based on this review, the book presents a model of long and short-term natural lacustrine dynamics as the basis for understanding the processes of human adaptation and transformation of the lacustrine ecosystems of the Basin of Mexico. Although only remains of the former lakes exist, the book stresses the importance of the former lacustrine basins in areas of natural and cultural heritage. Many misconceptions and misinterpretations of the lakes exist due to little interdisciplinary work regarding the natural dynamics of the lakes and their control by human societies that affect our historical knowledge of the lacustrine systems that once existed in the Basin of Mexico. Therefore, the book attempts to not only feed into the local knowledge of the lakes, but also contribute to the worldwide knowledge of lacustrine dynamics and human populations that lived in and around them. The book will be of interest to geographers, geologists, archaeologists, natural historians and environmental scientists, and will be of further use to civil engineers who work on the problems of structural foundations and redesigning problems with flooding. 606 $aPaleoecology 606 $aEnvironmental archaeology 606 $aPhysical geography 606 $aFreshwater ecology 606 $aMarine ecology 606 $aEarth sciences 606 $aHuman ecology$xHistory 606 $aPaleoecology 606 $aEnvironmental Archaeology 606 $aPhysical Geography 606 $aFreshwater and Marine Ecology 606 $aEarth Sciences 606 $aEnvironmental History 606 $aPrehistòria$2thub 606 $aArqueologia$2thub 606 $aLlacs$2thub 607 $aMèxic$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aPaleoecology. 615 0$aEnvironmental archaeology. 615 0$aPhysical geography. 615 0$aFreshwater ecology. 615 0$aMarine ecology. 615 0$aEarth sciences. 615 0$aHuman ecology$xHistory. 615 14$aPaleoecology. 615 24$aEnvironmental Archaeology. 615 24$aPhysical Geography. 615 24$aFreshwater and Marine Ecology. 615 24$aEarth Sciences. 615 24$aEnvironmental History. 615 7$aPrehistòria 615 7$aArqueologia 615 7$aLlacs 676 $a050 700 $aCordova$b Carlos E.$01265905 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a9910624313603321 996 $aThe Lakes of the Basin of Mexico$92968365 997 $aUNINA
