It provides a new understanding of the role played by the French missionaries in the most peripheral and less populated area of Canada during the colonial period. The decision to focus on this period is dictated by the need to investigate how and to which extent the French missionaries sought to carry out their activity within a contested territory which was exposed to the pressures coming out of both French and British imperial interests. Matteo Binasco is Adjunct Professor at the Foreigners? University of Siena, Italy. He is also principal investigator in the project ?I+D+I en el marco del Programa Operativo FEDER Andalucía 2014-2020? at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Seville. His previous monograph with Palgrave Macmillan, Making, Breaking and Remaking the Irish Missionary Network: Ireland, Rome and the West Indies in the Seventeenth Century, was published in 2020. . 410 0$aChristianities in the Trans-Atlantic World,$x2634-5846 606 $aAmerica$xHistory 606 $aEurope$xHistory 606 $aImperialism 606 $aReligion$xHistory 606 $aHistory of the Americas 606 $aEuropean History 606 $aImperialism and Colonialism 606 $aHistory of Religion 615 0$aAmerica$xHistory. 615 0$aEurope$xHistory. 615 0$aImperialism. 615 0$aReligion$xHistory. 615 14$aHistory of the Americas. 615 24$aEuropean History. 615 24$aImperialism and Colonialism. 615 24$aHistory of Religion. 676 $a266.02344 676 $a266.02344071509031 700 $aBinasco$b Matteo$0945288 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910616398403321 996 $aFrench Missionaries in Acadia$92929660 997 $aUNINA
