At the same time, problems pertinent to communities inhabiting rural areas are being addressed, as part of discussions in contigious fields of research, be it environmental studies, sociology, or agriculture. Even if rural areas and countryside communities have previously been a subject of concern for robust policy frameworks, such as the European Union's Cohesion Policy and Common Agricultural Policy Arguably, the concept of 'the village' has been largely absent in the debate. As a result, when advances in sophisticated information and communication technology (ICT) led to the emergence of a rich body of research on smart cities, the application and usability of ICT in the context of a village has remained underdiscussed in the literature. Against this backdrop, this volume delivers on four objectives. It delineates the conceptual boundaries of the concept of 'smart village'. It highlights in which ways 'smart village' is distinct from 'smart city'. It examines in which ways smart cities research can enrich smart villages research. It sheds light on the smart village research agenda as it unfolds in European and global contexts. 517 $aSino-Swiss Free Trade Agreement ? 2018 Academic Evaluation Report 606 $aSmart cities 606 $aSustainable development 615 0$aSmart cities. 615 0$aSustainable development. 676 $a307.760285 702 $aVisvizi$b Anna 702 $aLytras$b Miltiadis D. 801 0$bNjHacI 801 1$bNjHacl 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910598114203321 996 $aSustainable Smart Cities and Smart Villages Research$92822186 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01399nam a2200313 i 4500 001 991003994339707536 008 030203s2000 it 000 0 ita d 020 $a8840810307 035 $ab11894210-39ule_inst 040 $aDi.S.Te.B.A.$beng 082 0 $a612$222 100 1 $aSilverthorn, Dee Unglaub$0149445 245 10$aFisiologia :$bun approccio integrato /$cDee Unglaub Silverthorn 250 $a1st italian ed. 260 3 $aMilano :$bCEA,$c2000 300 $axxviii, 771 p. :$bill.
