It provides a roadmap for navigating between toxic masculinity on one side, and feminist androgyny on the other. Normative visions for what men should be take many forms. For some it is love and mindfulness; for others, wildness and heroic virtue. For still others the desire to separate a healthy manhood from toxic masculinity is a mistake: better to refuse to be men and salvage our humanity. Though Ben Almassi challenges the visions that Mary Wollstonecraft, bell hooks, and others have offered, he shares their belief that masculinity can be grounded in feminist values and practices. Almassi argues that we can make sense of relational allyship as practices of feminist masculinity, such that men can make distinctive and constructive contributions to gender justice in the unjust meantime. 606 $aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy 606 $aFeminism 606 $aFeminist theory 606 $aMen 606 $aSex 606 $aSocial Philosophy 606 $aFeminism and Feminist Theory 606 $aMens' Studies 606 $aGender Studies 615 0$aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aFeminism. 615 0$aFeminist theory. 615 0$aMen. 615 0$aSex. 615 14$aSocial Philosophy. 615 24$aFeminism and Feminist Theory. 615 24$aMens' Studies. 615 24$aGender Studies. 676 $a305.31 676 $a305.31 700 $aAlmassi$b Ben$f1979-$01259327 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910588786503321 996 $aNontoxic: Masculinity, Allyship, and Feminist Philosophy$94174074 997 $aUNINA
