Despite the importance of the topic, few attempts have been made to present a long-term economic analysis of the phenomenon, one that frames the issue by examining its place in the long history of international integration. This volume collects eleven papers doing exactly that and more. The first group of essays explores how the process of globalization can be measured in terms of the long-term integration of different markets-from the markets for goods and commodities to those for labor and capital, and from the sixteenth century to the present. The second set of contributions places this knowledge in a wider context, examining some of the trends and questions that have emerged as markets converge and diverge: the roles of technology and geography are both considered, along with the controversial issues of globalization's effects on inequality and social justice and the roles of political institutions in responding to them. The final group of essays addresses the international financial systems that play such a large part in guiding the process of globalization, considering the influence of exchange rate regimes, financial development, financial crises, and the architecture of the international financial system itself. This volume reveals a much larger picture of the process of globalization, one that stretches from the establishment of a global economic system during the nineteenth century through the disruptions of two world wars and the Great Depression into the present day. The keen analysis, insight, and wisdom in this volume will have something to offer a wide range of readers interested in this important issue. 410 0$aNational Bureau of Economic Research conference report. 606 $aGlobalization$xEconomic aspects$vCongresses 606 $aGlobalization$xSocial aspects 606 $aInternational economic integration$vCongresses 606 $aInternational economic relations$vCongresses 606 $aInternational finance$vCongresses 606 $aInternational trade$xSocial aspects 615 0$aGlobalization$xEconomic aspects 615 0$aGlobalization$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aInternational economic integration 615 0$aInternational economic relations 615 0$aInternational finance 615 0$aInternational trade$xSocial aspects. 676 $a337 701 $aBordo$b Michael D$0119439 701 $aTaylor$b Alan M.$f1964-$0119543 701 $aWilliamson$b Jeffrey G.$f1935-$0123346 712 02$aNational Bureau of Economic Research. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910968490703321 996 $aGlobalization in historical perspective$94358088 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03464nam 2200901z- 450 001 9910580208703321 005 20220706 035 $a(CKB)5690000000012001 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/87505 035 $a(oapen)doab87505 035 $a(EXLCZ)995690000000012001 100 $a20202207d2022 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aSoil, Water and Nitrates Management in Horticultural Production 210 $aBasel$cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2022 215 $a1 online resource (108 p.) 311 08$a3-0365-4575-1 311 08$a3-0365-4576-X 330 $aSoil, water, and nitrogen management are critical for crop productivity and quality in horticulture as well as for reducing negative impacts on ecosystems and greenhouse gas emissions. This Special Issue is a collection of seven important research works addressing solutions or strategies that can be implemented in order to use these three factors of production in a more sustainable way and to reduce inorganic nitrogen applications by considering the great importance of circular agriculture and the use of microorganisms. Aside from the relevance of the topics in this Special Issue, the studies included within it may trigger the development of new strategies for more sustainable and environmentally friendly intensive agriculture. 606 $aEnvironmental science, engineering and technology$2bicssc 606 $aHistory of engineering and technology$2bicssc 606 $aTechnology: general issues$2bicssc 610 $aacidic soil 610 $aantioxidant activity 610 $aarbuscular mycorrhizal fungi 610 $abiochar 610 $aby-products 610 $achlorophyll content 610 $aCr(VI) tissue 610 $adrip irrigation 610 $aGinger (Zingiber officinale) 610 $aheavy metals 610 $ahexavalent Cr 610 $aLactuca sativa L. 610 $aleaf characteristics 610 $amulching film 610 $aN and P status 610 $an/a 610 $anitrogen 610 $anitrogen dose 610 $anitrogen efficiency 610 $anutrient uptake 610 $anutritional quality 610 $aosmoregulation 610 $apH 610 $aphosphorus uptake 610 $aphotosynthesis 610 $aphotosynthetic pigments 610 $aplant growth 610 $apurslane 610 $arecycle 610 $aroot morphological traits 610 $asmart agriculture 610 $asoil contamination 610 $asoil enzymes 610 $asoil organic carbon 610 $asoil organic matter 610 $aSpinacia oleracea 610 $asugar accumulation 610 $asustainability 610 $aTrichoderma 610 $awater relations 610 $awater stress 610 $axylem tissue 610 $ayield 615 7$aEnvironmental science, engineering and technology 615 7$aHistory of engineering and technology 615 7$aTechnology: general issues 700 $aMachado$b Rui Manuel Almeida$4edt$01311302 702 $aMachado$b Rui Manuel Almeida$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910580208703321 996 $aSoil, Water and Nitrates Management in Horticultural Production$93030218 997 $aUNINA
