NBLs can be used as screening levels to define the good chemical status of groundwater bodies, as well as to fix the remediation target in polluted sites.The book "Natural Background Levels in Groundwater" brings together a set of case studies across Europe and worldwide where the assessments and identification of this boundary are performed with different methodologies. It provides an overview of the approaches and protocols applied and tested in different states for NBL assessment, ranging from well-known methods, such as component separation or cumulative probability plot methods, to new computer-aided protocols. The main objective of this book is to bring together and discuss different methodological approaches and tools to improve the assessment of groundwater NBLs. The overview, discussion and comparison of different approaches and case histories for NBL calculation can be useful for scientists, water managers and practitioners. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 606 $aEnvironmental economics$2bicssc 606 $aPollution control$2bicssc 610 $aambient background values 610 $aprobability plot 610 $amodified Lepeltier method 610 $apre-selection method 610 $aLOQ 610 $agroundwater body 610 $aCroatia 610 $anatural background levels 610 $asoftware implementation 610 $aparameters estimation 610 $astatistical methods 610 $acomponent separation method 610 $agroundwater quality 610 $agroundwater level 610 $ageostatistics 610 $at-test 610 $aspatial distribution modeling 610 $anatural background 610 $aconceptual model 610 $apreselection 610 $anitrates 610 $aconfidence level 610 $aarsenic 610 $asites under remediation 610 $asite-specific data 610 $aFerrara 610 $atrace metals 610 $aLanzo Massif 610 $aultramafic rocks 610 $aophiolites 610 $achromium 610 $ahexavalent chromium 610 $anickel 610 $aneutral mine drainage 610 $agroundwater 610 $aItalian guidelines 610 $acadmium 610 $acopper 610 $azinc 610 $aDenmark 610 $anatural background level 610 $awater quality 610 $aanthropogenic pressure 610 $atrace element 610 $agroundwater monitoring 615 7$aResearch & information: general 615 7$aEnvironmental economics 615 7$aPollution control 700 $aPreziosi$b Elisabetta$4edt$01314100 702 $aRotiroti$b Marco$4edt 702 $aCondesso de Melo$b M.
