Conclusion. 330 $aThis book examines educators and parents? practices of corporal punishment of preschool-aged children in school and at home in Tanzania, considering why it is that many children in Tanzania are still subject to corporal punishment. It explores the attitudes of parents, teachers, and educational leaders about corporal punishment, in the context of existing government policies, laws, and regulations, using interviews, questionnaires and observation. Corporal punishment is widely and frequently used by both parents and teachers as a way of maintaining discipline, with most regarding it favourably as a means of behavioural modification. Furthermore, the book shows that the use of corporal punishment in Tanzania is influenced by cultural norms and religious beliefs, teacher qualifications and parents? levels of education, past experiences of corporal punishment, and related beliefs about the practice. Crucially, there has not yet been a societal-level legal framework established to protectchildren from the harms involved. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Education,$x2211-193X 606 $aEarly childhood education 606 $aEducation and state 606 $aEducational psychology 606 $aEarly Childhood Education 606 $aEducational Policy and Politics 606 $aEducational Psychology 606 $aCāstigs corporals$2thub 606 $aDrets dels infants$2thub 606 $aEnsenyament preescolar$2thub 607 $aTanzānia$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrōnics$2thub 615 0$aEarly childhood education. 615 0$aEducation and state. 615 0$aEducational psychology. 615 14$aEarly Childhood Education. 615 24$aEducational Policy and Politics. 615 24$aEducational Psychology. 615 7$aCāstigs corporals 615 7$aDrets dels infants 615 7$aEnsenyament preescolar 676 $a649.64 700 $aSungwa$b Reuben$01220472 702 $aJackson$b Liz$f1980- 702 $aKahembe$b Joyce 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910558493903321 996 $aCorporal punishment in preschool and at home in Tanzania$92968620 997 $aUNINA
