The intersections of religion and gender are here explored, based on an understanding that both are socially constructed. Far from being static, as so often presented in world religions textbooks, religious traditions are constantly in flux, responding to historical, cultural and social contexts. So too is ?the? Sikh tradition in terms of practices, ideologies, rituals, and notions of identity. We here conclude that ?a? Sikh tradition does not exist; instead, there are numerous forms thereof. In this volume, Sikhism is presented as a collection of ?Sikh traditions?. Gender studies?in line with women?s liberation, masculine and feminist studies have long examined and have long deconstructed the patriarchy, but also move to identify other subordinate-dominant relations between individuals. Indeed, there are numerous forms of discrimination and power structures that simultaneously create a multiplicity of oppression. Intersectionality has become the basis of an increasingly systematized production of contemporary discourses on feminism and gender analysis, as is evidenced by the varied contributions in this volume. 606 $aReligion & beliefs$2bicssc 610 $aSikh 610 $awestern women 610 $astatus of women 610 $aIndia 610 $acolonial 610 $adiaspora 610 $amissionaries 610 $atravelogue 610 $asuttee 610 $ainfanticide 610 $afriendship 610 $agender, religion and sexuality 610 $aSikh literature and gender representations 610 $aSikh diaspora and gender 610 $alived religions and Sikhism 610 $apostcolonial life narratives and gender 610 $atrauma, testimonies and bearing witness 610 $aSikhism 610 $agender 610 $agender construction 610 $aDasam Granth 610 $aSikhs 610 $aSiri Guru Granth 610 $aRahit Maryada 610 $apunj kakar 610 $agurdwara 610 $afeminist thought 610 $aSikh religion 610 $amasculinity 610 $agender roles 610 $awomen's education 610 $awomen and Sikhism 610 $aSikh women in Italy 610 $aseva performances 610 $aSikh youth 610 $aSikhs in Italy 610 $agurdwaras in Italy 610 $acaste 610 $aintersectionality 610 $ahouseholding 610 $acounterpublic 610 $aembodiment 610 $aethnography 610 $aprayer 610 $aviolence 610 $awidowhood 610 $aSikh women and gender 610 $aSikh diaspora 610 $aCanadian Sikhs 610 $aSikh millennials 610 $aSikh chic 610 $aSikh entrepreneur 610 $aSikh values 610 $aKhalsa 610 $aSikh fashion 610 $aSikhs in Barcelona 610 $aidentity (re)construction 610 $agender relations 610 $aagency 610 $ahypermasculinity 610 $amisogyny 610 $asexism 610 $agood girl 610 $abad girl 610 $abhangra 610 $arap 610 $aHard Kaur 610 $amasculinities 610 $agangs 610 $aBritish Columbia 610 $amoral panics 610 $aPunjabis 610 $aKhalistanis 610 $aSikhs in France 610 $aundocumented migration 610 $aconstruction sector 610 $afitness 610 $aphilanthropy 615 7$aReligion & beliefs 700 $aJakobsh$b Doris R$4edt$01309612 702 $aJakobsh$b Doris R$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557799203321 996 $aExploring Gender and Sikh Traditions$93029452 997 $aUNINA
