Taking into account the current excitement in the field of marine biotechnology, this Special Issue entitled "Genome Mining and Synthetic Biology in Marine Natural Product Discovery" aims to to assess the impact of these molecular approaches on the discovery of bioactive compounds from marine organisms. The term "genome mining" is used to identify all bioinformatic investigations aimed at detecting the biosynthetic pathways of bioactive natural products and their possible functional and chemical interactions. Several studies are now reporting on marine organisms. Oceans cover nearly 70% of the Earth's surface and host a huge ecological, chemical, and biological diversity. The natural conditions of the sea favor, in marine organisms, the production of a large variety of novel molecules with great pharmaceutical potential. Marine organisms are unique in their structural and functional features compared to terrestrial ones. Innovation in this field is very rapid, as revealed by the funding of several Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and Horizon 2020 projects under the topic "Blue Growth", with the urgent goal of discovering new drugs. 606 $aTechnology: general issues$2bicssc 610 $abacteria 610 $adocosahexaenoic acid (DHA) 610 $afatty acid synthesis pathway 610 $afungi 610 $agenome mining 610 $aglobal regulator 610 $aheterologous expression 610 $aLaeA 610 $amicroalgae 610 $amonogalactosyldiacylglycerol synthase 610 $amonogalactosyldiacylglycerols 610 $an/a 610 $anatural products 610 $aoverexpression 610 $aPenicillium dipodomyis 610 $apolyketide synthase pathway 610 $apolysaccharide lyase family 25 610 $apolyunsaturated fatty acid 610 $asorbicillinoids 610 $asulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerols 610 $asulfoquinovosyltransferase 610 $asynthetic biology 610 $atranscriptome analysis 610 $aUDP-sulfoquinovose synthase 610 $aulvan lyase 610 $aulvan-derived oligosaccharides 610 $awhole-genome sequencing 615 7$aTechnology: general issues 700 $aCostantini$b Maria$4edt$0738492 702 $aCostantini$b Maria$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557779303321 996 $aGenome Mining and Synthetic Biology in Marine Natural Products Discovery$93033835 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03023oas 2201177 a 450 001 9910333153603321 005 20251114213013.0 011 $a1878-562X 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB1496503-3 035 $a(DE-599)1496503-3 035 $a(OCoLC)45082651 035 $a(CONSER) 2004233465 035 $a(CKB)110984073530534 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110984073530534 100 $a20000927a20009999 sy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBioelectrochemistry 210 $a[Amsterdam] $cElsevier Science B.V 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 300 $aTitle from contents screen (ScienceDirect, viewed Apr. 20, 2004). 300 $aSome issues also have distinctive titles. 311 08$a1567-5394 606 $aBioelectrochemistry$vPeriodicals 606 $aBioenergetics$vPeriodicals 606 $aBiochemistry 606 $aElectrochemistry 606 $aBiochemistry 606 $aElectrochemistry 606 $aElectrochemistry$vPeriodicals 606 $aBiochemistry$vPeriodicals 606 $aBioe?lectrochimie$vPe?riodiques 606 $aBioe?nerge?tique$vPe?riodiques 606 $aBiochimie 606 $aE?lectrochimie 606 $abiochemistry$2aat 606 $aElectrochemistry$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00906371 606 $aBiochemistry$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00831961 606 $aBioelectrochemistry$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00832013 606 $aBioenergetics$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00832018 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 615 0$aBioelectrochemistry 615 0$aBioenergetics 615 0$aBiochemistry. 615 0$aElectrochemistry. 615 12$aBiochemistry. 615 22$aElectrochemistry. 615 22$aElectrochemistry 615 12$aBiochemistry 615 6$aBioe?lectrochimie 615 6$aBioe?nerge?tique 615 6$aBiochimie. 615 6$aE?lectrochimie. 615 7$abiochemistry. 615 7$aElectrochemistry. 615 7$aBiochemistry. 615 7$aBioelectrochemistry. 615 7$aBioenergetics. 712 02$aBioelectrochemical Society 801 0$bABC 801 1$bABC 801 2$bOCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bIUL 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bGUA 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCS 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bGUA 801 2$bU9S 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bGPM 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bBUF 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bWYU 801 2$bUKMGB 801 2$bAUD 801 2$bU3W 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bVT2 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bQGK 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCL 801 2$bUAB 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910333153603321 996 $aBioelectrochemistry$9130476 997 $aUNINA
