One of the most attractive attributes of discontinuous fiber-reinforced composites is the ease with which they can be manufactured in large numbers, using injection and compression molding processes. The main aim of this Special Issue is to collect various investigations focused on the processing of discontinuous fiber-reinforced composites and the effect that processing has on fiber orientation, fiber length and fiber density distributions throughout the final product. Papers presenting investigations on the effect that fiber configurations have on the mechanical properties of the final composite products and materials were welcome in the Special Issue. Researchers who model and simulate processes involving discontinuous fiber composites as well as those performing experimental studies involving these composites were welcomed to submit papers. The authors were encouraged to present new models, constitutive laws, and measuring and monitoring techniques to provide a complete framework on these groundbreaking materials and to facilitate their use in different engineering applications. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 610 $afiber reinforced plastics 610 $along fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) 610 $asliding plate rheometer 610 $afiber microstructure 610 $afiber orientation 610 $adirect fiber simulation 610 $amechanistic model 610 $afiber reinforced thermoplastics 610 $amodeling 610 $ashort fiber reinforcement 610 $aprocess simulation 610 $asmoothed particle hydrodynamics 610 $acomposite foams 610 $aclosed cells 610 $aimage processing 610 $afinite element analysis 610 $apolymer composites 610 $along fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (LFTs) 610 $acore region 610 $ashell region 610 $afiber length distribution (FLD) 610 $aselective laser sintering 610 $arecoating 610 $aPA6 610 $apolyamide 610 $aglass 610 $afibres 610 $abeads 610 $aorientation 610 $arecoating speed 610 $alayer thickness 610 $aenergy density 610 $apARD-RSC 610 $ashort fiber reinforced 610 $amechanistic modelling 610 $aCarbon nanotubes 610 $aCNTs 610 $ananocomposites 610 $aelectrical resistivity 610 $aconductivity 610 $aelectric fields 610 $acomputational modelling 610 $acompression moulding 610 $amoulding compounds 610 $aoptimisation 610 $awet laid 610 $aisotropic 610 $atensile 610 $acarbon fiber 610 $adiscontinuous 610 $arecycling 610 $ahybrid composites 610 $apolymer-matrix composites (PMCs) 610 $athermotropic liquid crystalline polymer 610 $aglass fibers 610 $along fiber reinforced plastics 610 $afiber breakage 610 $afiber length 610 $aadditive tooling 610 $aadditive manufacturing 610 $arapid tooling 610 $ainjection molding 610 $apolypropylene 610 $along-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics 610 $afiber concentration 610 $astereolithography 610 $acarbon fiber recycling 610 $alightweight design 610 $along fiber-reinforced thermoplastics 610 $aparameter-optimization 610 $ainjection molding compounding 610 $along fiber reinforced thermoplastics 610 $afiber orientation models 610 $acalibration 610 $adiscontinuous fiber composites (DFC) 610 $acompression molding 610 $asheet molding compound (SMC) 610 $acarbon fiber sheet molding compound (CF-SMC) 610 $arandomly oriented strands (ROS) 610 $acomputed tomography (CT) 610 $adirect fiber simulation (DFS) 610 $aprepreg platelet molding compound (PPMC) 610 $atow-based discontinuous composite (TBDC) 610 $aplastics processing 610 $acomposites 610 $aglass fiber 610 $asheet molding compound 610 $along fiber 610 $afiber content 615 7$aResearch & information: general 700 $aOsswald$b Tim$4edt$0601429 702 $aKuhn$b Christoph$4edt 702 $aOsswald$b Tim$4oth 702 $aKuhn$b Christoph$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557729603321 996 $aDiscontinuous Fiber Composites, Volume II$93024558 997 $aUNINA
