One of the most attractive attributes of discontinuous fiber-reinforced composites is the ease with which they can be manufactured in large numbers, using injection and compression molding processes. The main aim of this Special Issue is to collect various investigations focused on the processing of discontinuous fiber-reinforced composites and the effect that processing has on fiber orientation, fiber length and fiber density distributions throughout the final product. Papers presenting investigations on the effect that fiber configurations have on the mechanical properties of the final composite products and materials were welcome in the Special Issue. Researchers who model and simulate processes involving discontinuous fiber composites as well as those performing experimental studies involving these composites were welcomed to submit papers. The authors were encouraged to present new models, constitutive laws, and measuring and monitoring techniques to provide a complete framework on these groundbreaking materials and to facilitate their use in different engineering applications. 606 $aResearch and information: general$2bicssc 610 $aadditive manufacturing 610 $aadditive tooling 610 $abeads 610 $acalibration 610 $acarbon fiber 610 $acarbon fiber recycling 610 $acarbon fiber sheet molding compound (CF-SMC) 610 $aCarbon nanotubes 610 $aclosed cells 610 $aCNTs 610 $acomposite foams 610 $acomposites 610 $acompression molding 610 $acompression moulding 610 $acomputational modelling 610 $acomputed tomography (CT) 610 $aconductivity 610 $acore region 610 $adirect fiber simulation 610 $adirect fiber simulation (DFS) 610 $adiscontinuous 610 $adiscontinuous fiber composites (DFC) 610 $aelectric fields 610 $aelectrical resistivity 610 $aenergy density 610 $afiber breakage 610 $afiber concentration 610 $afiber content 610 $afiber length 610 $afiber length distribution (FLD) 610 $afiber microstructure 610 $afiber orientation 610 $afiber orientation models 610 $afiber reinforced plastics 610 $afiber reinforced thermoplastics 610 $afibres 610 $afinite element analysis 610 $aglass 610 $aglass fiber 610 $aglass fibers 610 $ahybrid composites 610 $aimage processing 610 $ainjection molding 610 $ainjection molding compounding 610 $aisotropic 610 $alayer thickness 610 $alightweight design 610 $along fiber 610 $along fiber reinforced plastics 610 $along fiber reinforced thermoplastics 610 $along fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) 610 $along fiber-reinforced thermoplastics 610 $along fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (LFTs) 610 $along-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics 610 $amechanistic model 610 $amechanistic modelling 610 $amodeling 610 $amoulding compounds 610 $an/a 610 $ananocomposites 610 $aoptimisation 610 $aorientation 610 $aPA6 610 $aparameter-optimization 610 $apARD-RSC 610 $aplastics processing 610 $apolyamide 610 $apolymer composites 610 $apolymer-matrix composites (PMCs) 610 $apolypropylene 610 $aprepreg platelet molding compound (PPMC) 610 $aprocess simulation 610 $arandomly oriented strands (ROS) 610 $arapid tooling 610 $arecoating 610 $arecoating speed 610 $arecycling 610 $aselective laser sintering 610 $asheet molding compound 610 $asheet molding compound (SMC) 610 $ashell region 610 $ashort fiber reinforced 610 $ashort fiber reinforcement 610 $asliding plate rheometer 610 $asmoothed particle hydrodynamics 610 $astereolithography 610 $atensile 610 $athermotropic liquid crystalline polymer 610 $atow-based discontinuous composite (TBDC) 610 $awet laid 615 7$aResearch and information: general 700 $aOsswald$b Tim$4edt$0601429 702 $aKuhn$b Christoph$4edt 702 $aOsswald$b Tim$4oth 702 $aKuhn$b Christoph$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557729603321 996 $aDiscontinuous Fiber Composites, Volume II$93024558 997 $aUNINA
