This entomopathogenic bacterium produces different kinds of proteins whose specific toxicity has been shown against a wide range of insect orders, nematodes, mites, protozoa, and human cancer cells. Some of these proteins are accumulated in parasporal crystals during the sporulation phase (Cry and Cyt proteins), whereas other proteins are secreted in the vegetative phase of growth (Vip and Sip toxins). Currently, insecticidal proteins belonging to different groups (Cry and Vip3 proteins) are widely used to control insect pests and vectors both in formulated sprays and in transgenic crops (the so-called Bt crops). Despite the extensive use of these proteins in insect pest control, especially Cry and Vip3, their mode of action is not completely understood. The aim of this Special Issue was to gather information that could summarize (in the form of review papers) or expand (research papers) the knowledge of the structure and function of Bt proteins, as well as shed light on their mode of action, especially regarding the insect receptors. This subject has generated great interest, and this interest has been materialized into the 18 papers of important scientific value in the field (5 reviews and 13 research papers) that have been compiled in this issue. 517 $aBacillus thuringiensis Toxins 606 $aResearch and information: general$2bicssc 610 $a3D-Cry toxins 610 $a3D-structure 610 $aABCC2 610 $aadhesion 610 $aAedes aegypti 610 $aAFM 610 $aanticancer activity 610 $aAnticarsia gemmatalis 610 $aantimicrobial peptide 610 $aapoptosis 610 $aAsian corn borer 610 $aATP-binding cassette subfamily a member 2 (ABCA2) 610 $aBacillus thuringiensis 610 $aBacillus thuringiensis proteins 610 $abioassay 610 $abiological control 610 $aBombyx mori 610 $aBti 610 $acadherin 610 $achitin-binding protein 610 $acoleopteran pests 610 $aCRISPR/Cas9 610 $aCry 610 $aCry1Ab 610 $aCry1Ac resistance 610 $aCry1Fa 610 $aCry2Ab toxin 610 $aCyt 610 $aCyt2Aa2 toxin 610 $aerythrocyte membrane 610 $afunctional receptor 610 $agenome editing 610 $agut microbiota 610 $aHEK293T cell 610 $ain vitro evolution 610 $ainsect resistance 610 $ainsecticidal activity 610 $ainsecticidal proteins 610 $aLeptinotarsa decemlineata 610 $aLobesia botrana 610 $alysosome 610 $aMamestra brassicae 610 $amembrane receptors 610 $aminor proteins 610 $amitochondria 610 $amode of action 610 $amode of action of Cry toxin 610 $amosquito control 610 $an/a 610 $aoligomer formation 610 $aOstrinia furnacalis 610 $aOstrinia nubilalis 610 $aparasporins 610 $aperitrophic matrix 610 $aPlutella xylostella 610 $aprotein-lipid binding 610 $aprotoxin activation 610 $apyramids 610 $aQCM-D 610 $arational design 610 $aresistance 610 $aS-layer proteins 610 $aSf21 cell line 610 $aSf9 cells 610 $aSip 610 $asite-directed mutagenesis 610 $aSpodoptera frugiperda 610 $aSpodoptera litura 610 $aSpodoptera spp., Helicoverpa armigera 610 $astructure 610 $asynergy 610 $atobacco budworm 610 $atoxin enhancement 610 $atranscription activator-like effector-nucleases (TALENs) 610 $atrypsin-like midgut protease 610 $avegetative insecticidal proteins 610 $aVip 610 $aVip3A 610 $aVip3Aa 615 7$aResearch and information: general 700 $aBel$b Yolanda$4edt$01313328 702 $aFerre?$b Juan$4edt 702 $aHerna?ndez-Marti?nez$b Patricia$4edt 702 $aBel$b Yolanda$4oth 702 $aFerre?$b Juan$4oth 702 $aHerna?ndez-Marti?nez$b Patricia$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557646103321 996 $aBacillus thuringiensis Toxins: Functional Characterization and Mechanism of Action$93031291 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04009nam 2200721uu 450 001 9910634070003321 005 20230227191620.0 010 $a9781447334156 010 $a1447334159 010 $a9781447334163 010 $a1447334167 024 7 $a10.56687/9781447334156 035 $a(CKB)25646417000041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4933673 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30935 035 $a(DE-B1597)647341 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781447334156 035 $a(OCoLC)971264692 035 $a(PPN)270308016 035 $a(oapen)doab30935 035 $a(EXLCZ)9925646417000041 100 $a20202102d2017 |yn | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAdvising in austerity: Reflections on challenging times for advice agencies 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aBristol$cPolicy Press$d2017 210 1$aBristol : $cPolicy Press, $d[2016] 210 4$d©2016 215 $a1 electronic resource (136 p.) 311 08$a9781447334149 311 08$a1447334140 327 $tFront Matter -- $tContents -- $tNotes on contributors -- $tList of acronyms -- $tIntroduction -- $tIntroduction -- $t'Lucy': The Barriers to Accessing Advice -- $tA Reflection on Case Study One: The Barriers to Accessing Advice -- $tCitizens Advice in Austere Times -- $tThe Advice Conundrum: How to Satisfy the Competing Demands of Clients and Funders.
