This entomopathogenic bacterium produces different kinds of proteins whose specific toxicity has been shown against a wide range of insect orders, nematodes, mites, protozoa, and human cancer cells. Some of these proteins are accumulated in parasporal crystals during the sporulation phase (Cry and Cyt proteins), whereas other proteins are secreted in the vegetative phase of growth (Vip and Sip toxins). Currently, insecticidal proteins belonging to different groups (Cry and Vip3 proteins) are widely used to control insect pests and vectors both in formulated sprays and in transgenic crops (the so-called Bt crops). Despite the extensive use of these proteins in insect pest control, especially Cry and Vip3, their mode of action is not completely understood. The aim of this Special Issue was to gather information that could summarize (in the form of review papers) or expand (research papers) the knowledge of the structure and function of Bt proteins, as well as shed light on their mode of action, especially regarding the insect receptors. This subject has generated great interest, and this interest has been materialized into the 18 papers of important scientific value in the field (5 reviews and 13 research papers) that have been compiled in this issue. 517 $aBacillus thuringiensis Toxins 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 610 $aBacillus thuringiensis 610 $aPlutella xylostella 610 $aCry1Ac resistance 610 $atrypsin-like midgut protease 610 $aprotoxin activation 610 $aSpodoptera spp., Helicoverpa armigera 610 $aMamestra brassicae 610 $aAnticarsia gemmatalis 610 $aOstrinia furnacalis 610 $aCry2Ab toxin 610 $aBombyx mori 610 $aATP-binding cassette subfamily a member 2 (ABCA2) 610 $agenome editing 610 $atranscription activator-like effector-nucleases (TALENs) 610 $aHEK293T cell 610 $afunctional receptor 610 $aVip3Aa 610 $alysosome 610 $amitochondria 610 $aapoptosis 610 $aSf9 cells 610 $aCry1Ab 610 $aoligomer formation 610 $aSf21 cell line 610 $aOstrinia nubilalis 610 $aLobesia botrana 610 $aLeptinotarsa decemlineata 610 $abioassay 610 $aCyt2Aa2 toxin 610 $aprotein-lipid binding 610 $aerythrocyte membrane 610 $aAFM 610 $aQCM-D 610 $aAsian corn borer 610 $aABCC2 610 $aCRISPR/Cas9 610 $aCry1Fa 610 $aresistance 610 $achitin-binding protein 610 $aadhesion 610 $aperitrophic matrix 610 $aVip3A 610 $aSpodoptera litura 610 $asite-directed mutagenesis 610 $aCry 610 $aCyt 610 $aparasporins 610 $aS-layer proteins 610 $aVip 610 $aSip 610 $amembrane receptors 610 $ainsecticidal activity 610 $aanticancer activity 610 $aAedes aegypti 610 $aminor proteins 610 $asynergy 610 $amosquito control 610 $aBti 610 $aSpodoptera frugiperda 610 $acadherin 610 $amode of action of Cry toxin 610 $ainsecticidal proteins 610 $ainsect resistance 610 $atobacco budworm 610 $aBacillus thuringiensis proteins 610 $acoleopteran pests 610 $astructure 610 $amode of action 610 $a3D-structure 610 $abiological control 610 $aantimicrobial peptide 610 $agut microbiota 610 $avegetative insecticidal proteins 610 $apyramids 610 $a3D-Cry toxins 610 $ain vitro evolution 610 $arational design 610 $atoxin enhancement 615 7$aResearch & information: general 700 $aBel$b Yolanda$4edt$01313328 702 $aFerre?$b Juan$4edt 702 $aHerna?ndez-Marti?nez$b Patricia$4edt 702 $aBel$b Yolanda$4oth 702 $aFerre?$b Juan$4oth 702 $aHerna?ndez-Marti?nez$b Patricia$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557646103321 996 $aBacillus thuringiensis Toxins: Functional Characterization and Mechanism of Action$93031291 997 $aUNINA
