The ongoing climate changes and new consumer preferences make the selection of genetic materials suitable for the present scenarios particularly difficult. This Special Issue Book covers several aspects of the genetic improvement of durum wheat, collected in seven chapters including two review papers focused on milestones in durum wheat breeding programs across the countries of the Mediterranean basin and sub-Saharan Africa. Water deficit and heat stress occurring during the reproductive stage of wheat have a detrimental effect on yield and grain quality of durum wheat. The papers included in this Special Issue propose selection strategies for traits associated with yield and grain quality (e.g., root architecture, carbon isotope composition of grain, and gluten quality) under natural or artificial environmental conditions of drought, heat, and nutrient stress. This Special Issue presents new breeding opportunities for selecting modern varieties adapted to climate change and expanding durum wheat production. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 606 $aBiology, life sciences$2bicssc 610 $aAgro-industry 610 $aEthiopia 610 $aoasis wheat 610 $apasta wheat 610 $aSenegal River 610 $avalue chain 610 $aheat stress 610 $adurum wheat 610 $ayield 610 $atolerance 610 $afertility 610 $aclimate change 610 $aresilience 610 $aaluminum 610 $aresistance 610 $adurum 610 $ahydroponics 610 $asoil acidity 610 $aTriticum turgidum ssp. durum Desf. 610 $aagronomic traits 610 $acarbon isotope 610 $adays to heading 610 $agrain quality 610 $ayield components 610 $aMediterranean basin 610 $abreeding 610 $aMAS 610 $abiochemical markers 610 $aquality 610 $aproxy traits 610 $agenetic resources 610 $aroot screening 610 $aroot architecture 610 $aglutenin polymers 610 $agluten quality 610 $ahigh temperature 610 $anitrogen fertilization 615 7$aResearch & information: general 615 7$aBiology, life sciences 700 $aDe Vita$b Pasquale$4edt$0442560 702 $aTaranto$b Francesca$4edt 702 $aDe Vita$b Pasquale$4oth 702 $aTaranto$b Francesca$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557631303321 996 $aDurum Wheat Breeding and Genetics$93017542 997 $aUNINA
