Nutrition plays a key role in GDM, whether (1) as part of an ?unhealthy? diet, which contributes to its cause, or (2) as part of changes in dietary intake, which act as the frontline treatment for GDM (sometimes supplemented with exercise and pharmacological intervention). Dietary changes, therefore, can alter the risk of developing GDM in the first place, and once GDM has emerged during pregnancy, dietary changes can mitigate the risk of developing GDM-related complications, such as macrosomia, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia and jaundice in the neonate, pre eclampsia, increased need for caesarean section and placental abruption in the mother. In this Special Issue, we aim to highlight the role of nutrition in the aetiology of GDM, whether directly or indirectly through weight gain and obesity, and in its role as a GDM treatment to lower hyperglycemia and the risk of the aforementioned complications. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 606 $aBiology, life sciences$2bicssc 606 $aFood & society$2bicssc 610 $amicrobiome 610 $apregnancy 610 $aobesity 610 $aketonuria 610 $aRoseburia 610 $adiet 610 $afood frequency questionnaire 610 $aglucose 610 $ainsulin secretion 610 $ahuman milk 610 $abreastfeeding 610 $agestational diabetes mellitus 610 $ainsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus 610 $apreterm newborn 610 $agestational diabetes 610 $adietary patterns 610 $amaternal nutrition 610 $adietary adaptations 610 $aglycemic index 610 $apostprandial glycemic response 610 $ablood glucose prediction 610 $adiabetes 610 $agestational weight gain 610 $amacrosomia 610 $aadiposity 610 $aneonate 610 $aexercise 610 $aphysical activity 610 $adietary carbohydrates 610 $adiabetes-specific formula 610 $acontinuous glucose monitoring 610 $aglycemic variability 610 $acarbohydrate distribution 610 $amean amplitude of glucose 610 $abreakfast diet 610 $aplatelet-activating factor 610 $atumor necrosis factor ? 610 $amethylglyoxal 610 $aglycated albumin 610 $aendocrine disruptors 610 $aendocrine-disrupting chemicals 610 $abisphenol A 610 $aBPA 610 $aphthalates 610 $apregnancy outcomes 610 $aeating speed 610 $acohort study 610 $aprevention 610 $anutrition 610 $apolyphenolic compounds 610 $abioactive compounds 610 $aleptin resistance 610 $ainflammation 610 $aMediterranean diet 615 7$aResearch & information: general 615 7$aBiology, life sciences 615 7$aFood & society 700 $aPetry$b Clive J$4edt$01302222 702 $aPetry$b Clive J$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557542603321 996 $aNutrition for Gestational Diabetes$93026268 997 $aUNINA
