It does this through a number of chapters focusing on case studies located in different geographical areas of Europe and beyond. By doing this, the editors shed light on a set of challenges that emerge around the world at the intersection between the legal and administrative spheres during the governance and planning of territorial phenomena. The issues addressed in the various chapters highlight how spatial planning activities continue to face serious challenges that have not yet been satisfactorily addressed. In more detail, a correlation emerges between the legal regulations that allow and shape spatial-planning activities and the socio-economic and territorial challenges that those activities should tackle. This is often a consequence of the path-dependent influence of the traditional administrative and spatial planning configuration, which presents an inertial resistance to change that is hard to overcome. A similar situation arises concerning the mismatch between the boundaries of the existing administrative units and the extent of territorial phenomena, with a system of judicial?territorial administration that does not always coincide with the boundaries of the fundamental administrative division of a country, leading to an overall deterioration of the conditions in which all actors involved in spatial development operate. 606 $aPeace studies & conflict resolution$2bicssc 610 $alandscape urbanization 610 $ametropolises 610 $aagglomeration in Poland 610 $aurban landscape intensity index 610 $alocal development 610 $alocal law 610 $abudgets of local units 610 $afinancial consequences of spatial chaos 610 $aurban sprawl 610 $amacroeconomics 610 $aexternalities 610 $abudget 610 $aspatial policy 610 $aeconomic policy 610 $aurban growth management 610 $aland use planning 610 $azoning 610 $astrategic spatial planning 610 $ainstitutionalism 610 $adiscourse 610 $aAntwerp 610 $aFlanders 610 $aland use transition 610 $ainnovation agglomeration 610 $aindustrial pollution 610 $aenvironmental protection 610 $ainnovation-driven development 610 $asustainable land use 610 $aurbanization 610 $aspatial governance and planning 610 $aEurope 610 $aESPON 610 $aSECI expansion model 610 $alocal government 610 $agreen governance 610 $apeer behavior 610 $agreen development 610 $arule by law 610 $alaw-based governance 610 $ahousing price 610 $asensitivity 610 $aheterogeneity 610 $amediating mechanism 610 $aland economic efficiency 610 $aenvironmental pollution 610 $acarbon emissions 610 $asustainable cities 610 $aeastern China 610 $aland policy 610 $aplanning system 610 $aland-use planning 610 $aland development 610 $aurban development 610 $alegal framework 610 $acontainment 610 $aPoland 610 $aGermany 610 $aSpain 610 $agreen belt 610 $amaster plan 610 $aplanning history 610 $aplanning policy 610 $aurban containment 610 $aurban agriculture 610 $aKigali 610 $aSingapore 610 $aland-use policy 610 $aspatial planning 610 $aterritorial governance 610 $aland use 610 $alaw 615 7$aPeace studies & conflict resolution 700 $aNowak$b Maciej J$4edt$01213517 702 $aCotella$b Giancarlo$4edt 702 $a?leszy?ski$b Przemys?aw$4edt 702 $aNowak$b Maciej J$4oth 702 $aCotella$b Giancarlo$4oth 702 $a?leszy?ski$b Przemys?aw$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557466003321 996 $aThe Legal, Administrative and Managing Framework for Spatial Policy, Planning and Land-Use.
