MMPs can catalyze normal turnover of the extracellular matrix (ECM) together with other metalloproteinases such as ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) and ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) families. MMP activity is also regulated by a group of endogenous proteins called tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMPs). All these proteins have a pivotal role involving ECM remodelling in normal physiological processes such as wound healing, embryogenesis, angiogenesis, bone remodelling, immunity, and the female reproductive cycle. An imbalance in the expression or activity of MMPs can also have important consequences in diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, chronic leg ulcers, and multiple sclerosis. In recent years, MMPs have been found to play an important role in the field of precision medicine, as they may serve as biomarkers that may predict an individual?s disease predisposition, state, or progression. MMPs are also thought to be a sensible target for molecular therapy. The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the most recent findings in this field that may have an impact in healthcare systems. 606 $aHumanities$2bicssc 606 $aSocial interaction$2bicssc 610 $ahypersensitivity pneumonitis 610 $ametalloproteinases 610 $agenetic association 610 $aautoantibodies 610 $aMMP1 610 $aMMP2 610 $aSNPs 610 $aMMPs 610 $aTIMPs 610 $aCKD 610 $aperipheral vascular disease 610 $abiomarkers 610 $aproteinuria 610 $aeGFR 610 $aPAD. 610 $aNGAL 610 $astatins 610 $aarterial aneurysms 610 $apatients 610 $acollagenases 610 $aCrohn?s disease 610 $adental caries 610 $amouth 610 $aperiodontitis 610 $amatrix metalloproteinase-9 610 $adialysis 610 $aon-line hemodiafiltration 610 $ahigh-flux dialysis 610 $arenal replacement therapy 610 $akidney transplantation 610 $aMac-1 610 $aCD147 610 $aleukocytes 610 $aplatelets 610 $aadhesion 610 $aintegrin ?M?2 610 $amatrix metalloproteinases 610 $aTIMP 610 $asynthetic inhibitors 610 $aRECK 610 $amatrix metalloproteinase 610 $aMAPKs 610 $aischemia/reperfusion 610 $aeNOS 610 $aiNOS 610 $ainflammatory bowel disease 610 $ainflammation 610 $aNO 610 $aMMP-9 610 $acGMP 610 $aCaco-2 610 $amatrix metalloproteinase-7 610 $afibrosis 610 $aacute kidney injury 610 $achronic kidney disease 610 $aapoptosis 610 $ahealth 610 $adisease 615 7$aHumanities 615 7$aSocial interaction 700 $aSerra$b Raffaele$4edt$01311350 702 $aSerra$b Raffaele$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557409503321 996 $aMatrix Metalloproteinases in Health and Disease$93030277 997 $aUNINA
