Additionally, infectious foamy viruses circulate in a variety of mammalian species including simian, bovine, equine, caprine, and feline. Foamy viruses have many unique features which led to the division of the retrovirus family into two subfamilies, the Orthoretrovirinae and Spumaretrovirinae. In vitro, foamy viruses have a broad host range and in vivo, human infections have been described due to cross-species transmission from infected nonhuman primates. Thus far, there are no reports of virus-induced disease in humans or in the natural host species. These unique properties of foamy viruses have led researchers to develop foamy viruses as gene therapy vectors to study virus?virus and virus?host interactions for identifying factors involved in virus replication, transmission, and immune regulation that could influence potential clinical outcomes in humans as well as for using endogenous foamy virus sequences in the analysis of host species evolution. 606 $aMedicine$2bicssc 606 $aNeurosciences$2bicssc 610 $aspumavirus 610 $afeline illness 610 $aproviral load 610 $aneglected virus 610 $abovine foamy virus 610 $ainfectious clone 610 $aparticle release 610 $acell-free transmission 610 $afoamy virus 610 $aspumaretrovirus 610 $across-species virus transmission 610 $azoonosis 610 $arestriction factors 610 $aimmune responses 610 $aFV vectors 610 $avirus replication 610 $alatent infection 610 $afeline foamy virus 610 $aepidemiology 610 $aretrovirus 610 $aSpumaretrovirus 610 $amountain lion 610 $aPuma concolor 610 $aELISA 610 $aprotease 610 $areverse transcriptase 610 $aRNase H 610 $areverse transcription 610 $aantiviral drugs 610 $aresistance 610 $asimian foamy virus 610 $agibbon 610 $alesser apes 610 $aco-evolution 610 $acomplete viral genome 610 $aequine foamy virus 610 $aisolation 610 $aJapan 610 $asero-epidemiology 610 $areptile foamy virus 610 $aendogenous foamy virus 610 $aendogenous retrovirus 610 $aancient retroviruses 610 $aco-speciation 610 $afoamy virus-host interactions 610 $aviral tropism 610 $ainfection 610 $akidney 610 $acats 610 $achronic kidney disease 610 $achronic renal disease 610 $aintegrase 610 $aintegration 610 $aco-infections 610 $aNHP 610 $apathogenesis 610 $azoonoses 610 $aviral prevalence 610 $aNeotropical primates 610 $afree-living primates 610 $aBrazil 610 $anew world primates 610 $asimian retrovirus 610 $aBFV 610 $aspuma virus 610 $amodel system 610 $aanimal model 610 $aanimal experiment 610 $amiRNA function 610 $agene expression 610 $aantiviral host restriction 610 $agene therapy 610 $ain-vivo gene therapy 610 $ahematopoietic stem and progenitor cells 610 $afoamy virus vector 610 $apre-clinical canine model 610 $aSCID-X1 610 $ainnate sensing 610 $acGAS 610 $aSTING 610 $afoamy viruses 610 $awild ruminants 610 $aEuropean bison 610 $ared deer 610 $aroe deer 610 $afallow deer 610 $aseroreactivity 610 $ainter-species transmission 610 $aHSC 610 $agene marking 610 $aFV gene transfer to HSCs 610 $agene therapy alternatives 610 $aserotype 610 $ahigh-throughput sequencing 610 $areplication kinetics 610 $acytopathic effect 610 $areverse transcriptase activity 610 $amiRNA expression 610 $avirus-host-interaction 610 $amiRNA target gene identification 610 $ainnate immunity 610 $aANKRD17 610 $aBif1 (SH3GLB1) 610 $areplication in vitro 615 7$aMedicine 615 7$aNeurosciences 700 $aKhan$b Arifa$4edt$01319383 702 $aLöchelt$b Martin$4edt 702 $aLindemann$b Dirk$4edt 702 $aKhan$b Arifa$4oth 702 $aLöchelt$b Martin$4oth 702 $aLindemann$b Dirk$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557409103321 996 $aSpumaretroviruses$93033856 997 $aUNINA
