Water systems of large buildings, such as hospitals, hotels, and rental units are often contaminated by legionellae and various parameters such as physical, chemical, and microbial building water system characteristics can influence Legionella occurrence. A range of physical and chemical disinfection methods have been proposed to control Legionella contamination; however, to date, the most effective procedures have not been defined. There is a need to survey legionellae in water systems to prevent legionellosis. Although the assessment of L. pneumophila in water is typically performed by culture isolation on selective media, it has several limits. For this reason, alternative tools for rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of Legionella in water samples have been proposed. In order to increase knowledge on different aspects of Legionella contamination in the water environment, this book gathers research studies related to the occurrence of Legionella in water systems of different environments; the role of different factors that can influence the Legionella contamination, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different methodological approaches. 606 $aBiology, life sciences$2bicssc 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 610 $aAcanthamoeba 610 $aAcinetobacter 610 $aamoebae 610 $aBCYE and GVPC media 610 $abiofilm 610 $abiological biocide 610 $achemical analysis 610 $achlorine 610 $aclonal complex 610 $acooling towers 610 $acopper 610 $aculture 610 $aculture media 610 $aDental unit waterlines 610 $adisinfection 610 $adistal site positivity 610 $adrinking water 610 $aecotype 610 $aenvironmental factors 610 $aenvironmental monitoring 610 $afirst draw 610 $aflint 610 $afree-living amoebae 610 $afree-living amoebae (FLA) 610 $agroundwater 610 $aHealthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) 610 $ahospital water 610 $ahot water return line 610 $ahotels 610 $aHPC 610 $airon 610 $aISO 11731 610 $aLegiolert 610 $aLegionella 610 $aLegionella pneumophila 610 $aLegionella spp. 610 $alegionellosis 610 $aLegionnaires' disease 610 $amagnesium 610 $amicrobial analysis 610 $aMLVA-genotypes 610 $amolecular diversity 610 $an/a 610 $aniche 610 $anon-tuberculous mycobacteria 610 $aPEX 610 $aplate culture 610 $apotable water 610 $apotable water samples 610 $apremise plumbing 610 $apremise plumbing systems 610 $aprotozoa 610 $aPseudomonas 610 $aPVC 610 $aquality control 610 $arisk assessment plan 610 $arisk management 610 $aSBT 610 $asecond draw 610 $asensor-activated faucets 610 $aSurgical Handwashing Outlets (SHWOs) 610 $atemperature 610 $aVermamoeba 610 $avirulence genes 610 $awater disinfection 610 $awater management 610 $awater quality 610 $aWest Bank 610 $awhole genome sequencing 610 $aWillaertia magna C2c Maky 610 $aWTP 828 615 7$aBiology, life sciences 615 7$aResearch & information: general 700 $aBonetta$b Silvia$4edt$01314045 702 $aBonetta$b Sara$4edt 702 $aBonetta$b Silvia$4oth 702 $aBonetta$b Sara$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557404803321 996 $aLegionella Contamination in Water Environment$93031621 997 $aUNINA
