It is the hope of the editors that these works will bring new insights and suggest new directions for investigation in this burgeoning field. Too often, religion and science are seen as diametrically opposed areas of human endeavor when, in reality, many scientists are influenced by religious ideas and many religious communities are inspired by scientific ideas. Religious activity has long been an aspect of humanity and will likely continue to accompany humans, even if or when we begin to settle outer space. We anticipate that this collection will be of use to future researchers studying the intersection of religious and scientific concepts of outer space. We would like to give our thanks to the authors whose works are included here and to note that circumstances during the very challenging year of 2020 have made it difficult for everyone who expressed interest in participating in this project. We also would like to thank our son, Luke Swanson, who was so very patient while his parents' attention was focused on "the heavens". 606 $aReligion & beliefs$2bicssc 610 $aalien 610 $aanthropocentrism 610 $aanthropology 610 $aanthropology of time 610 $aastrobiology 610 $aastronauts 610 $aastronomy 610 $aawe 610 $aChurch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 610 $acognition 610 $acomplexity 610 $acosmonaut 610 $acreationism 610 $aculture 610 $adiversity 610 $aethics 610 $aEvangelical Protestantism 610 $aexceptionalism 610 $afolk astronomy 610 $aGeneral Social Survey 610 $ahierotopy 610 $ahistory 610 $aHoly See 610 $aiconography 610 $aincorporation 610 $aInternational Space Station 610 $aJapanese Buddhism 610 $aKolob 610 $alife 610 $amanifest destiny 610 $aMartian 610 $amaterial culture 610 $amoral 610 $an/a 610 $aNASA 610 $anationalism 610 $aneo-rationalism 610 $aNew Frontier 610 $anon-western religions 610 $aouter space 610 $aoverview effect 610 $aphilosophy 610 $apioneer 610 $apower 610 $aPresident Donald Trump 610 $areligion 610 $areligion and politics 610 $areligious transhumanism 610 $arhetoric 610 $asacred space 610 $ascience 610 $asense of wonder 610 $aspace exploration 610 $aSpace Force 610 $aspace policy 610 $aspaceflight 610 $aspeculative religion 610 $aultraview effect 610 $aVatican 610 $aVice President Mike Pence 615 7$aReligion & beliefs 700 $aWeibel$b Deana L$4edt$01294152 702 $aSwanson$b Glen E$4edt 702 $aWeibel$b Deana L$4oth 702 $aSwanson$b Glen E$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557365903321 996 $aThe Mutual Influence of Religion and Science in the Human Understanding and Exploration of Outer Space$93022938 997 $aUNINA
