In recent years, the Mediterranean diet (MD) has gained popularity as one such dietary pattern, demonstrated to deliver many benefits according to a variety of different studies (cohort, RCT, etc.), adding to its legacy. The intention of this Special Issue is to stimulate sharing of additional clues that may further develop our understanding of the relationship between the Mediterranean diet and metabolic diseases. Another aim is to clarify potential differences in the benefits observed by different MD patterns. Moreover, as more info becomes available on the effect of MD patterns in the microbiome but also in the area of proteomics and epigenetics, relevant mechanisms and involved key mediators still need to be identified in order to provide further clarity in the description of the underlying mechanisms and the potential health outcomes occurring in response to adhering to MD. You are cordially invited to submit proposals for manuscripts that bring new elements into this interesting and promising topic. We invite clinicians and researchers to submit relevant scientific work from epidemiological or clinical studies, either original articles or reviews, to this Special Issue of Nutrients entitled "Mediterranean Diet and Metabolic Diseases". 606 $aMedicine$2bicssc 610 $aanthropometrics 610 $aASCVD prevention 610 $abiomarkers 610 $acardiometabolic risk 610 $aclinical trial 610 $aCOVID-19 610 $adiabetes mellitus 610 $adietary pattern 610 $aeating habits 610 $ahealth behaviors 610 $alifestyle 610 $alifestyle behaviors 610 $alipids 610 $alipoprotein composition 610 $aMediterranean diet 610 $aMediterranean Diet 610 $aMediterranean diet adherence 610 $aMediterranean diet scores 610 $aMediterranean dietary pattern 610 $ametabolic disease 610 $ametabolic syndrome 610 $ametabolites 610 $an/a 610 $anon-communicable diseases 610 $anutritional habits 610 $aobesity 610 $asalt 610 $asaturated fatty acids 610 $asodium 610 $aUnited Arab Emirates 610 $aurinary potassium excretion 610 $aurinary sodium excretion 610 $awomen 615 7$aMedicine 700 $aChourdakis$b Michael$4edt$01289218 702 $aMagriplis$b Emmanuella$4edt 702 $aChourdakis$b Michael$4oth 702 $aMagriplis$b Emmanuella$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557342903321 996 $aMediterranean Diet and Metabolic Diseases$93021098 997 $aUNINA
