The first is to celebrate the work of a great public health figure, the late A.J. (Tony) McMichael (1942?2014). The second is to position contemporary public health issues in an interdisciplinary context and in ways that highlight the interdependency between the environment, human institutions and behaviours; a broad approach championed by Tony. The third is to encourage emerging and future public health leaders to advocate for policies and cultural change to sustain and improve human health, from a foundation of objective scholarship. The book?s foreword and 38 chapters were written by people who were inspired by Tony; many of whom worked with him at some point in the last 40 years. Its structure reflects five major public health domains, each of which Tony made major contributions to in an extremely productive academic life: occupational health and safety; environmental and social epidemiology; nutrition and food systems; climate change and health; and ecosystem change and infectious disease. The final section, ?Transformation?, is dedicated to Tony?s desire for public health scientists to propose adaptive and mitigating solutions to the problems they were observing. Each section contains at least one key publication involving Tony. There is also a selection of artworks from an exhibition which formed part of the conference held to honour Tony at The Australian National University in 2012. This conference formed the first part of Tony?s festschrift, completed by this book. 606 $aEpidemiology 606 $aEpidemiology$xHistory 606 $aPublic health 606 $aPublic health surveillance 606 $aSocial change$xHealth aspects 610 $ahealth policy 610 $atony mcmichael 610 $apublic health 610 $aepidemiology 610 $aClimate change (general concept) 615 0$aEpidemiology. 615 0$aEpidemiology$xHistory. 615 0$aPublic health. 615 0$aPublic health surveillance. 615 0$aSocial change$xHealth aspects. 676 $a614.4 700 $aD. Oxidative stress on a cellular level affects the function of tissues and organs and may eventually lead to disease. Therefore, a precise understanding of how oxidative stress develops and can be counteracted is of utmost importance. The scope of the book is to emphasize the latest findings on the cellular targets of oxidative stress and the potential beneficial effect of antioxidants on human health. 606 $aMedicine and Nursing$2bicssc 610 $a3-glutathionyl-4-hydroxynonanal 610 $a4-hydroxy-2-nonenal 610 $aA2E 610 $aacute pancreatitis 610 $aadaptive immune response 610 $aadipose-derived stem cells 610 $aage-related macular degeneration (AMD) 610 $aaging 610 $aanalgesic 610 $aanion exchange 610 $aanoikis 610 $aantioxidant 610 $aantioxidants 610 $aapoptosis 610 $aartemisinin derivatives 610 $aastrocytoma cells 610 $aautophagy 610 $aAVD 610 $aband 3 610 $aBand 3 protein 610 $abradykinin 610 $acalcium ionophore A23187 610 $acancer 610 $acardiovascular diseases 610 $acashew nuts 610 $acell homeostasis 610 $acellular redox state 610 $acigarette smoke extract 610 $acircRNA 610 $acisplatin nephrotoxicity 610 $aclinical 610 $aCNS pathology 610 $aco-ultramicronization 610 $acoagulation 610 $ad-Galactose 610 $adiabetes 610 $adiet 610 $adietary chemicals 610 $adiseases 610 $aepilepsy 610 $aerythrocytes 610 $aferroptosis 610 $afish 610 $aglucose exposure 610 $aglycation 610 $aHeLa 610 $ahemichromes 610 $ahemostasis 610 $ahepatic steatosis 610 $aimmune system 610 $aimmunosenescence 610 $ainflammation 610 $ainterleukin 1? 610 $alegumes 610 $alipid dyshomeostasis 610 $aliver 610 $alncRNA 610 $aluteolin 610 $amatrix metalloproteinase 610 $amatrix metalloproteinases 610 $amicroparticles 610 $amicrovascular permeability 610 $amiRNA 610 $amitochondrial function 610 $amolecular hydrogen 610 $amucosal immunity 610 $an/a 610 $aNAC 610 $aNADPH oxidase 610 $anasal fibroblasts 610 $anasal immunity 610 $anatural compounds 610 $ancRNA 610 $aneurodegeneration 610 $aneuroinflammation 610 $aNF-?B 610 $anitric oxide donor 610 $anitrosative stress 610 $aobesity 610 $aoxidative stress 610 $aoxidative stress. 610 $apalmitoylethanolamide 610 $apalmitoylethanolamide (PEA) 610 $aparacrine factors 610 $apaw edema 610 $aperoxide 610 $aPGC-1? 610 $aphytochemicals 610 $aPlasmodium falciparum 610 $aplatelets 610 $apolyphenols 610 $apreeclampsia 610 $aprogrammed cell death 610 $aprooxidant 610 $apyroptosis 610 $areactive oxygen species 610 $areactive oxygen species (ROS) 610 $aRetinitis pigmentosa 610 $aRNA-Seq 610 $aROS 610 $aRPE 610 $asimvastatin 610 $aSO42? 610 $aSO42? uptake 610 $asoy 610 $asoy foods 610 $asoybeans 610 $astatus epilepticus 610 $asteroids 610 $aSubstance-P 610 $asyk kinase inhibitors 610 $aT cells 610 $atert-Bytyl hydroperoxide t-BOOH 610 $atherapeutic strategies 610 $atissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 610 $atraumatic brain injury 610 $atRNA fragments 610 $aTrolox 610 $avaccination 610 $avesiculation 610 $avitamin C 615 7$aMedicine and Nursing 700 $aMarino$b Angela$4edt$010723 702 $aDossena$b Silvia$4edt 702 $aMarino$b Angela$4oth 702 $aDossena$b Silvia$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557338703321 996 $aCellular Oxidative Stress$93026955 997 $aUNINA
