With an analysis of the Chinese, Manchu and European sources on ancient Chinese history, this essay proposes an early case of ?intercultural historiography,? in which historical texts of different cultures are interwoven. It focusses on the ways Chinese and European authors interpreted stories about marvellous births by the concubines of Emperor Ku. These stories have been the object of a wide variety of interpretations in Chinese texts, each of them representing a different historical genre. They are excellent case-studies to illustrate how the Chinese hermeneutic strategies shaped the diversity of interpretations given by Europeans. 410 0$aLeiden series in comparative historiography ;$vVolume 9. 606 $aHistoriography$zChina$xHistory 606 $aHistoriography$zEurope$xHistory 615 0$aHistoriography$xHistory. 615 0$aHistoriography$xHistory. 676 $a931.01072 700 $aStandaert$b N.$0876378 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910813027303321 996 $aThe intercultural weaving of historical texts$93925420 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02063nam 2200457z- 450 001 9910557258903321 005 20211118 035 $a(CKB)5400000000041368 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/73587 035 $a(oapen)doab73587 035 $a(EXLCZ)995400000000041368 100 $a20202111d2020 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aEtiology, Pathogenesis, and Consequences of Maladaptive Habits 210 $cFrontiers Media SA$d2020 215 $a1 online resource (99 p.) 311 08$a2-88963-433-7 330 $aThis eBook is a collection of articles from a Frontiers Research Topic.
