As societies around the world continue to shift towards an aging population, the social and economic burden created by cancer will only rise in the coming decades, necessitating continued improvement in our cancer therapies. Remarkably, in the late 1800s, bone surgeon William Coley serendipitously discovered that bacteria could be administered to patients as an effective (and sometimes toxic) form of cancer therapy known as "Coley's Toxins". His discoveries unknowingly led to two fields of cancer therapy that have been in development for decades and are now leading to significant improvements in therapy for cancer patients: immune-based and toxin-based therapies for cancer. Articles included here discuss the discoveries that emerged from Coley's Toxins that enable us to harness the immune system and microbial toxins to combat cancers, as oncology shifts from a field dominated by chemotherapy for most of the 20th century to biologic therapies that will dominate the 21st century. 606 $aMedicine and Nursing$2bicssc 610 $aadoptive cell therapy 610 $aapoptosis 610 $aautophagy 610 $abotulinum neurotoxin 610 $abotulinum toxin 610 $aBurkitt lymphoma 610 $acancer 610 $acancer cells 610 $aColey's Toxins 610 $acolorectal cancer 610 $acytokine therapy 610 $acytotoxic necrotizing factor type 1 610 $adrug discovery 610 $aER stress 610 $afurin 610 $aGb3/CD77 610 $aglioblastoma 610 $agustatory hyperhidrosis 610 $aimmune checkpoint inhibitors 610 $aimmunotherapy 610 $aimmunotoxin 610 $aintracellular trafficking 610 $an/a 610 $aneuropathic pain 610 $aparotid fistula 610 $aparotid gland 610 $apost-surgical pain 610 $aprotein purification 610 $arecombinant protein production 610 $aribotoxin 610 $aRNase T1 610 $ashiga toxins 610 $asialocele 610 $asubmaxillary gland 610 $avaccine 610 $a?-sarcin 615 7$aMedicine and Nursing 700 $aSnook$b Adam E$4edt$01318422 702 $aSnook$b Adam E$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557123603321 996 $aToxins and Cancer Therapy$93033225 997 $aUNINA
