Human activities have changed the ecosystems, and, hence, it is important to determine ways to predict these consequences to enable the preservation and restoration of these key areas. Furthermore, extreme events attributed to climate change are becoming more frequent, aggravating the entire scenario and introducing ulterior uncertainties for the accurate and efficient management of these areas to protect the environment, as well as the health and safety of people. Climate change is altering the rain and extreme heat, as well as inducing other weather mutations. All these lead to more frequent natural disasters such as flood events, erosions, and contamination and spreading of pollutants. Therefore, efforts need to be devoted to investigating the underlying causes, and to identifying feasible mitigation and adaptation strategies to reduce the negative impacts on both the environment and citizens. In support of this aim, the selected papers in this book covered a wide range of issues that are mainly relevant to the following: i) the numerical and experimental characterization of complex flow conditions under specific circumstances induced by the natural hazards; ii) the effect of climate change on the hydrological processes in the mountainous, river and coastal environments, iii) the protection of ecosystems and the restoration of areas damaged by the effects of the climate change and human activities. 606 $aResearch & information: general$2bicssc 610 $acheck dam 610 $ahydrologic response 610 $asediment transport 610 $aInHM 610 $aLoess Plateau 610 $astratification effect 610 $ainertia effect 610 $asecondary flow 610 $ameandering 610 $asediment laden flows 610 $apier scour 610 $anon-uniform sediment 610 $aarmor layer 610 $aequilibrium scour depth processes 610 $aclear water scour condition 610 $asuffusion 610 $ainternal stability 610 $agrain size distribution (GSD) 610 $aecological operation 610 $amulti-scale 610 $adecomposition-coordination 610 $ahydrologic alterations 610 $aembankments 610 $aovertopping failure 610 $amaterial point method 610 $awater?soil interactions 610 $anumerical simulation 610 $aSPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) 610 $awater-related natural hazards 610 $asediment scouring 610 $adense granular flow 610 $afast landslide 610 $asurge wave 610 $aflooding on complex topography 610 $aHPC (High Performance Computing) 610 $aFOSS (Free Open Source Software) 610 $aclimate change 610 $awater levels 610 $acauses and implications 610 $aQinghai Lake, Tibetan Plateau 610 $arainfall patterns 610 $arainfall-runoff 610 $asoil erosion 610 $aslope length 610 $aslope gradient 610 $anon-homogeneous debris flow 610 $aviscous coefficients 610 $aintermittent debris flows 610 $aenergy conversion 610 $afocusing waves 610 $awave amplitude spectra 610 $aspace-time parameter 610 $aexperimental investigations 610 $aInVEST model 610 $awetland 610 $aecosystem service assessment 610 $avalue analysis 610 $aschistosomiasis prevention 610 $aISPH 610 $aliquid sloshing 610 $awater jet flow 610 $aimpact pressure 610 $aexcitation frequency 610 $aNavier-Stokes equation 610 $aSST k-? turbulence model 610 $avortex-induced vibration (VIV) 610 $aArbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) method 610 $afinite element method (FEM) 610 $arock?soil contact area 610 $afissure flow 610 $akarst rocky desertification 610 $arunoff 610 $arainfall simulation 610 $aSmooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) 610 $aporous media 610 $amathematical model 610 $acoastal structure 610 $aocean and engineering 610 $aturbulence 610 $aemergent vegetation 610 $aflexible vegetation 610 $arigid vegetation 610 $acoherent structures 610 $ashear layer 610 $aelastic actuator line model 610 $aOpenFOAM 610 $aNREL 5 MW wind turbine 610 $aaeroelastic performance 610 $acheck dam system 610 $asedimentary land 610 $aflood control 610 $adam break 610 $aSWE 610 $aSPH 610 $aopenMP 610 $anumerical modelling 610 $acomputational time 610 $aexperimental modelling 610 $ascouring 610 $asmoothed-particle hydrodynamics 610 $aflooding 610 $adam-break 610 $adebris flows 610 $aurban evolution 610 $anatural hazard 615 7$aResearch & information: general 700 $aShao$b Songdong$4edt$01328776 702 $aLuo$b Min$4edt 702 $aRubinato$b Matteo$4edt 702 $aZheng$b Xing$4edt 702 $aPu$b Jaan H$4edt 702 $aShao$b Songdong$4oth 702 $aLuo$b Min$4oth 702 $aRubinato$b Matteo$4oth 702 $aZheng$b Xing$4oth 702 $aPu$b Jaan H$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557104803321 996 $aAdvances in Modelling and Prediction on the Impact of Human Activities and Extreme Events on Environments$93038930 997 $aUNINA
