Yet, this may not be consistently the case with Victorian and Modernist literature, since relatively few of the authors of those periods have elicited such critical and theoretical scrutiny. The articles in this volume set off to re-read Victorian and Modernist literature in the light of the ethics of alterity and investigate whether the post-Auschwitz, contemporary period breaks away from or favours lines of continuity with the productions of the earlier era. It also strives to address works which do not belong to the canon, focusing alternately on great authors and less known artists, on what has been termed ?minor? texts or genres that are less visible than the novel. Approaching literature by examining the relations between ethics and aesthetics, even while adopting an ethical approach, helps the authors in this volume contribute to revising the contemporary, Modernist and Victorian canon in English Literature. 606 $aLiterature 606 $amodernism 606 $aethics 606 $apolitics 606 $aalterity 606 $aBritish arts 606 $acontemporary art 610 $amodernism 610 $aethics 610 $apolitics 610 $aalterity 610 $aBritish arts 610 $acontemporary art 615 4$aLiterature 615 4$amodernism 615 4$aethics 615 4$apolitics 615 4$aalterity 615 4$aBritish arts 615 4$acontemporary art 700 $aBrasme$b Isabelle$01303325 701 $aCavalié$b Elsa$01316394 701 $aCuny$b Noëlle$0699156 701 $aDussol$b Vincent$01316395 701 $aEmig$b Rainer$0684390 701 $aFroula$b Christine$0769940 701 $aGanteau$b Jean-Michel$01129633 701 $aJ. López$b María$01316396 701 $aJiménez Hefferman$b Julian$01316397 701 $aKindellan$b Michael$01316398 701 $aMarie-Laverrou$b Florence$01316399 701 $aMartín Salván$b Paula$01316400 701 $aMellet$b Laurent$01300457 701 $aNowell Smith$b David$01316401 701 $aOnega$b Susana$0889080 701 $aRegard$b Frédéric$0949926 701 $aReynier$b Christine$01316402 701 $aRoss$b Stephen$0361425 701 $aWilliams-Wanquet$b Eileen$0486994 701 $aGanteau$b Jean-Michel$01129633 701 $aReynier$b Christine$01316402 801 0$bFR-FrMaCLE 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910552973103321 996 $aEthics of Alterity, Confrontation and Responsibility in 19th- to 21st-Century British literature$93032664 997 $aUNINA
