In the first part of the book he shows that the traditional distinction between primary and secondary qualities leads to idealism, while the common Cartesian conception of knowledge by way of ideas leads to skepticism. In an effort to avoid these twin scourges of modem philosophy, the author argues for the existence of ordinary perceptual objects and explains how we know these objects directly through simple acts of perception. The second part of the book is concerned with the way in which we know what is in our minds. Grossmann maintains that this kind of knowledge is just as fallible as perception. In the third part the author concludes that logic, arithmetic, and set theory concern matters of fact and that we discover these facts through empirical knowledge. 606 $a08.32 epistemology$3(NL-LeOCL)077593413$2bcl 606 $aKennistheorie$2gtt 606 $aRealism$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01091228 606 $aKnowledge, Theory of$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00988194 606 $aEmpiricism$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00908950 606 $aRealismo$2embne 606 $aEmpirismo$2embne 606 $aRealisme 606 $aEmpirisme 606 $aTheorie de la connaissance 606 $aRealism 606 $aEmpiricism 606 $aKnowledge, Theory of 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$a08.32 epistemology. 615 10$aKennistheorie. 615 0$aRealism. 615 0$aKnowledge, Theory of. 615 0$aEmpiricism. 615 0$aRealismo. 615 0$aEmpirismo. 615 0$aRealisme. 615 0$aEmpirisme. 615 0$aTheorie de la connaissance. 615 0$aRealism. 615 0$aEmpiricism. 615 0$aKnowledge, Theory of. 700 $aGrossmann$b Reinhardt$f1931-$0540539 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910524854703321 996 $aThe Fourth Way$92720960 997 $aUNINA
