In seeking an answer to this question, Alexander Rosenberg, a philosopher of science, plunges into the controversial discipline of sociobiology. Sociobiology, Rosenberg asserts, deals in those forces governing human behavior that traditional social science has unsuccessfully attempted to slip between: neurophysiology, on the one hand, and selective forces, on the other. Unlike previous works in the two fields it straddles, Rosenberg's book brings thinking about the nature of scientific theorizing to bear on the most traditional issues in the philosophy of social science. The author finds that the subjects of conventional social science do not reflect the operation of laws that social scientists are equipped to discover. The author argues that much of the debate surrounding sociobiology is irrelevant to the issue of its ultimate success. Although largely conceptual, the book is an unequivocal defense of this new theory in the explanation of human behavior. 606 $aPhilosophie sociale$2ram 606 $aSociologie et biologie$2ram 606 $aSociobiologie$2ram 606 $aSociale wetenschappen$2gtt 606 $aSociobiologie$2gtt 606 $aSociobiology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01123838 606 $aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01122940 606 $aSciences sociales$xPhilosophie 606 $aSociologie 606 $aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy 606 $aSociobiology 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPhilosophie sociale. 615 0$aSociologie et biologie. 615 0$aSociobiologie. 615 10$aSociale wetenschappen. 615 10$aSociobiologie. 615 0$aSociobiology. 615 0$aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aSciences sociales$xPhilosophie. 615 0$aSociologie. 615 0$aSocial sciences$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aSociobiology. 676 $a306/.4 700 $aRosenberg$b Alexander$f1946-$045160 712 02$aProject M 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910524850303321 996 $aSociobiology and the Preemption of Social Science$92676791 997 $aUNINA
